I was thinking about plugging in a small ceramic heater using the outlet in the bed. We have a camper shell of course.

Has anyone had issues with this? Or, is there something I should know before we do this?

    Thanks guys!!!!!

P.S. I searched ceramic heaters - camper shell, nothing relevant came up.

You would be limited to about 3.3A on the 400W setting. Is there one available that low?

Someone with more understanding than me will hopefully chime in, but the bed outlet is pretty weak. It may not power your heater depending on how much power it needs. Also, the truck needs to be on for the outlet to be on, so unless you're going to run your truck all night, you'll kill the battery trying to sleep in there. Or are you just trying to make it more comfortable for a dog while you're driving or something?

mine kept kicking out on high, keeper on low.
theres a trick i learned at the drive inns to keep the power from timing out, but it will drain your battery. i drained mine with the radio while camping. when parked, keep it in N with the parking break on, turn the truck off, then on and off again and pretty sure that keeps the power in the back from timing out

Just don't asphyxiate yourself. That's happened to a few sorry souls running a white gas heater in a solid fibreglass camper shell. If you start to feel really sleepy.........

Get a a small efficient quiet Honda generator that you can set a safe distance away from the vehicle while running. Using a 280HP V6 idle away to run a 400 watt outlet is like killing flies with a sledgehammer.

You may be better off with a Mr. Buddy portable heater.
