on a funny note: bought a AK47 and was due to break it out of jail. On the day after I was SUPPOSED to pick it up, kid calls me and asks how I like it...............

ran to the local FFL to pick up my AK, I forgot about!

My favorite coating method, John Norrells molyresin:

    https://molyresin.com/

In My experience, it's the best durability you will get with least tolerance/thickness issues.

    I'll try it! Thanks!

Just spent a lot of time reading the comprehensive info on that site. Since the finish is applied by airbrush, it might be cool to add some designs to the piece like kryptek, or camo and the like. You ever try anything like that?

Yep, I did a digital camo AR upper/lower set. Thats also a Nice feature of the molyresin, It dries to the touch almost instantly when you spray it on preheated heated parts ( I use a harbor freight heat gun). You can do multiple layers without messing up what's underneath. You bake It when you're finished to cure. And No mixing, so No waste.

In your case with the two holes, can I suggest 2 shepherds hooks like they have in the garden center at Home Depot‘s. If you would like I can take a picture of it tomorrow on my range and show you what I mean.
