I know this topic has been talked about before but it seems its always going in different directions which always end up becoming off topic. Im trying to get some direct answers and opinions......I talked to a few different people directly but haven't been able to get a straight forward answer.
So I am doing the FJ tcase swap in my 2nd gen tacoma, I already pulled my case out and got the FJ case...pulled it open and did the modification on the forks to allow "twin stick" independent shifting

My question now if what are good companies to go with as far as the shift levers themself? I looked online and found a few varying from Davez offroad which seem to be out of stock, trail gear seems to have one if this is even the right one (https://www.trail-gear.com/TG/Twin_Stick_Kit_Top_Shift/i_0_0_4153/_107500-1-KIT.aspx), front range offroad (http://frontrangeoffroadfab.com/twin-stick/), and maybe other brands you guys may know of? I know other companies make some and claim to be a top shift but the description states it does not work on a chain driven case? But yet again it says "All Top shift style transfer cases in single or dual configuration"......

My other question is regarding the short shift? A lot of guys that run a crawl box end up running the twin sticks out of the cup holder... anyone have further detail on that?

Last question but not least.....I know a lot of people argue over Marlin being better than Inchworm when it comes to the crawl box. I know Marlin makes great product but rumor has it they are either out of stock or take a long time to fulfill orders. Hopefully i can call them monday and ask myself. As far as Inchworm I believe Low Range usually sells them, anyone have any feedback on ordering from them? I was hoping to get some feedback from first hand experienced people.....well im done ranting hopefully i can get some decent feedback that other can gain some knowledge from to

On the twin stick, I thought the same as you for awhile, but if you carefully read it, it'll state that it won't work unless modify. It is talking about not working if it's left stock. As I recall from talking to Wyatt, was any twin stick should work, if modified.

Search the rock solid toys forum, as I recall again from following Wyatt's every post and actually meeting the guy, he did ththrow in short throw. It seem to have worked wonders.

I don't have much experience with marlin, but the rear e locker axle I bought from when RST(rock solid toys) built Ray's taco, since the axle was rebuilt by marlin, it's never given me any issues. I know they are real wonderful people, always going out of their way to answer my questions, especially big Mike.

I've ordered my all pro leaf springs thru them being cheaper than all pro, I've always got my things on time. Plus my e locker axle wiring I got from low range as well. Thing was purtty.

I believe you wouldn't go wrong with either, just because I've dealt with both.

Im going to call lowrange monday and see what the eta would be on a inchworm box....I would love to get a marlin but it seems its more of a hassle to get then its worth

Thats what i was thinking as well for the top shift and them considering the twin stick a modified tcase?

Whats exactly added/modified for the short throw?

Your welcome. Wyatt gets a little busy. When he first started on Ray's taco, he had more free time. Since then, he's been more busy. I was lucky enough to get the questions you've had now answered then.

Yeah, it'll be modified because of cutting off that little tab from the forks.

As I remember, the short throw is some what taller or whatnot, so the shifter shorter and shifter travel is not as far but with same engagement.

Like I said, I first started following the threads right from when it started and right when RST started.

Yeah i figured that after reading up a lot, i was reading up on RST and wyatt posted his number so ill shoot im and text and see if he can do anything

as far as the short shifter it seems to have a spacer on the base so i can get a block machined and lengthened the shifter to work in that theory....if thats the case ill test it and offer it to other people at cost

Hey man, might be a little late to the party but like @SixthSnail mentioned, I am running that dual case setup. I went with the twin sticks from Front Range. That's also what Wyatt recommends for the FJ cases. They have good fit and finish. Just understand that some bending will be required to get them situated nicely in your console.

As for the twin sticks coming out from the cup holder, that is correct. For my taco, The TacoBox comes up where the coin slot is and the twins out where the cup holder would be. Check out my build thread starting here and photo album for more photos. Again, Wyatt offers a trim piece and shift boots to make it all look factory and clean.

As for the Marlin vs Inchworm, I can only speak about what I've experienced with Marlin and @BigMike and that is they are a GREAT group of guys that stand behind their product. If you want the strongest and highest quality toyota gears, Marlin is the only way to go.

If you have any other question feel free to let me know and if you are in SoCal we can link up and I'd be glad to show you the setup.
