maybe this will help save someone the 45 minute wait on hold...

got an email earlier today stating that my wells fargo checking account was overdrawn.
immediately signed in to see whats up as i haven't used my debit card in days and had plenty of $$ in there last I checked.
a bill pay that i had scheduled to run today was showing twice on my account, causing the overdraft notice
    called the 1-800 number
sat on hold for 45 minutes
representative finally picked up, i explained the situation, he apologized and said they are aware of the issue and are working to correct it
should all be good by tomorrow he said

i thanked him and wished him luck as i bet they're going to have a hell of a night!

WF still doesn't have egg off it's face from falsified accounts, now the IT boys toss in some burnt toast.

We still use them for a couple of services, (and I like my local guys) but I don't feel like throwing any real business their way anymore.

I do all of my banking there - except for car loans. Was just in a minor panic for a bit today knowing that I haven't used my debit card and in 20 years of managing my own money I've never ever overdrawn any account...figured either my account got hacked or something funky was going on in their system

Kinda feel sorry for the folks working at the call center today. They're gonna be busy!

Not a fan of WF...at all.

I think I bailed from them around 2007 after the charged me $1784.00 for a BBQ meal that the place charged me $17.84 for. Started getting overdrafts on my bills and the charges for it and I logged in to see the charge. Two decimal places...I had the receipt for the dinner and scanned it, emailed it and followed up on it but at that point WF was refusing to pay the overdraft charges and tried to pin it on the merchant. In the end, charges were waived but the hassle was enough for me to say “by Felicia”to WF for good

    Truth.

Unfortunately those folks get caught mopping up stupid way too much, in many business environments.

that would suck. I've never had an issue until now. Gonna hope its a one time deal.

yeah, the guy I talked too seemed relieved when I wasn't mad and we laughed. I know they get plenty of angry people, no need to add to that

I dont do business with WF, never will. They opened up a illegal stock ownership account for a former employer. I think the owner was looking for a tax shelter, but gave away a good chunk of the company to us employees. New owner took WF and my old boss to court to settle as they wanted control of the company completely. Also, when my mom was alive, WF had opened up a second account for my mom in Nevada. I think they worked on commission to open new accounts. They have also made the news too much.

As soon as I have all my stuff paid off I’m going with a local bank. It’s easier right now because I have direct deposit and all my bills are direct withdrawal.

I'm happy to oblige your wine addiction. You're usually more willing to make a sammich that way

I would love to use a local bank, and of course I could. But we travel enough, in and out of country, that there are some advantages to being with a big bank. One that has partner banks in some countries overseas to help reduce fees on some things.

We already have 'most' of our stuff at one of those 'other' big banks. We became WF customers via M&A, not choice. We're grandfathered on a budget friendly SD box there, and the two accounts we have are related to rental properties, so funds are kept separate from regular living. Easier money management for those with the checking and HELOC.

I managed my parents assets in their last years, and they were also WF due to M&A. That was a complex situation due to VA, SS and medical trust funds all having to be separate accounts. Fortunately that worked out ok, and all that has been wrapped up for a couple of years now, since their passing.

I can tell you another I'm unhappy with. Not that anything has gone 'wrong', but I think they are klugey and cumbersome, and that's TD. A family member has an account there, mostly because it's the only bank around where they live in the NE that has local branches here, and I'm involved in helping them manage some things. Sometimes you just need to sit and look at someone when doing business. But I'd never suggest TD for any other reason that just sheer necessity. No offense to our Canadian brethren who may like them or even work there. It's just the way I see it.

In the future I'll likely move away from brick and mortar banking altogether, if I can find free ATM services and a suitable alternative to an SD box. I mean I can scan and cloud load documents, but not the gold bars, diamonds and sidearms. :D

I’m trying to become a minimalist. (0%debt including no mortgage) If I can obtain that goal. Have a few small rental properties to supplement some income after I give up the sailors life and keep the 401k and Roth going I think I’ll be able to manage with a small time bank.

“I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

I'm amazed that anyone still uses Wells Fargo or Bank of America.

It’s the convienence of it but if we all who bank with them responded as we should have it would of set a higher standard for them. They truly are a trashy outfit and I can’t wait to pull my money out and put my money with a bank that deals with integrity. Though they may be hard to find
