    The limited is included.

Yes, it seems like the default mode in 4HI and 4LO is what causes the magic. From what I've experienced, feathering the throttle to get going and maintaining momentum was the ticket because as soon as the system sensed a slip, it took over and it "felt like it had legs" and straight up to the top it went with no slippage that I could tell or hear. It was a totally different rush than the my previous 2 OR's. Like it was able to carry momentum and smoothness better. But I've only experienced 2 steep climbs at Hungry Valley that are always a major rush. And if I knew ahead of time that alls I had was an open diff up front and an alsd system in the back only, no way in hell would I have attempted. But Eric's descriptions and those at the beginning of the thread led me to believe to give it a go. It conquered easily.

I've seen a video of a fella who started out with a sport and ended up with lockers, both front and back. One of the first videos he presented was a trail named the Miller Jeep Trail in Los Padres National Forest. To make it as far as he did, I'm convinced what we have. And had he aired down another 5 or so, he would have made it.

I can't wait to go to the desert and have fun in 4HI.

I made a correction to post 108. The Taco climbed in 4LO and not 4LO with TRAC off. Got confused I'm sure. Too bad Toyota doesn't make us all aware of what we truly have. Although, you fellas in the latter posts are taking care of that. BWT's spread sheet is the stuffings. I just found it interesting that the alsd light does not come on to indicate as in 2WD. Kinda reminds of the sticker they put on the OR's on the door for engagement of the locker for safety stuff and all.

Well, bad news and good news. My ramps were not tall enough to do all the tests. I could only get the 2Hi stuff successfully. It just rolled up too easily in 4Hi. The uneven loading (most of the weight of the truck compared to the typical half) was really deflecting my old steel ramps.

I was even able to get up the rear ramp with 2Hi in both no button and Auto LSD. The front ramp slid forward.

    IMG_20180120_102155.jpg

The good news is that it was more articulation than I was expecting. That is still with the front sway bar mounted.

I will talk to my neighbor to see if they have a floor jack.

Sorry for the delay. In the meantime, I will continue look for a place to test near me.

Awesome Tony that you're trying it though. I'm pretty sure we all know what we have, but it's nice that it will be proven. Although I think BWT's spreadsheet proves it with the MTS mode.

On a side note, I was reading a thread and someone with a sport mentioned he pulled out a stuck vehicle using 4HI. He mentioned how it felt as though he wasn't yanking anything out. This alsd is just purely awesome. Eric, when you yanked out the Chevy with the locker, were you in 4HI or 4LO? I'm getting goosebumps! The locker and atrac never game me this feeling. I find it funny actually. All fired up about brakes and not a locker? *palm on face*

Pulling out that duramax I was in 4lo, 1st gear, no buttons pushed, and didn' have to yank or anything. Just a steady, controlled pull with the clutch all the way out, and the usual weird grunting noises from the brake booster area as tires searched for traction in the snow and ice. I pulled him about 25 feet back onto the road.

Same here. I'm not big about most gizmos, but this one is functional, esp as it doesn't seem to cut engine power.

    Good stuff all around.

Thanks for working on it. It isn't a big deal, just something for fun really. I was just trying to fully understand the system as best as I could and all the existing big threads don't seem to really cover the 3rd generation. Next up see if I can make progress on 2-wheel-Lo
Thread hijack, just noticed front camera too, likey... (I have a spdt switch on the dash for mine)

That was just me hijacking the thread with some front camera stuff, and admiring @tonered front camera.

I did some testing in Gorman with the wife and kid today, no snow lol. They both opted to get out after 4 test runs up the hill previously.

I was interested in seeing this free A-Trac work and Recording it.

2017 SR v6 auto 4x4 tow package sway bar removed 2.5 fox dcs all around.

Tires were at 40 psi and are the stock hankooks with 41000 miles on them. Figure bald aired up tires were the right choice for the test.

Here’s a pic of the dash. All I did was shift into 4 Low. I did not tuch the trac off/vcs off button. ECT was turned on also.

The VSC OFF light turned on and and the 4low light turned on. As I started to climb I had too much traction so I backed up in to the ruts to start over. In the video you clearly see the computer activating the rear and front brakes independently. All I did give the truck gas and I braked once I was on top of the hill. The truck was dragging the rear diff, scraped the exhaust, and hung a tire in the air. :burnrubber:

I was impressed. I did not expect this level of assistance on a base model truck.

Link to you tube video. I don’t know how to embed it.

Oh hell yeah, Manny! Front wheel action. Awesome seeing the front and rear brakes modulating. Thank you for sharing.

I’m convinced 100% after this video. Particularly the end of the video where the front left wheel lifted off the rut, and was stopped completely by the system, all front wheel traction diverted to the front right wheel. Awesome.

Thanks! I really like the front camera. It's been helpful.

I like that location and switch type for the rear anytime. I might copy it? I'm out of standard locations with the USB charger added.

2Lo you say? If you can get somewhere with that, I will be stoked.

The unfortunate thing is many of the heard still think it’s atrac. I most certainly did at first. Again, I never took a look at the booster from the ‘12 OR. I was experiencing things that made me think it.

But the fact that we all dropped a ton of weight after reading this thread, and particularly going to Hungry Valley, aka Gorman and experiencing the magic myself. This video SHOWS A LOT if you pay close attention.

The stout thing about AUTO LSD is that it fires on all 4 brakes and doesn’t seem to have a cut off point. Doesn’t surprise me any how heads are pulling people out with power and control in crazy situations. I would imagine same goes off the beaten path.

Had to edit my last post! This morning on the way to work I checked 2WD with auto lsd. It does not turn off at 30mph. It stayed on well past 45, must have been like 49mph. It never turned off, unless you turn it off. So im guessing in 4HI and LO, it stays active all the time, unless you press the console button(vsc). That’s just awesome. It’s ALSD, but we might as well call it free atrac!:mudding:

It's VSC that turns back on (light turns off) after 30mph. The light that shows a car doing a squiggling burnout. Auto LSD will stay on no matter the speed.
