The SKINNY on skinny tires

Thank you, yea I was going for a little different look and it turned out IMO very cool. An I'm stuck with these as I really want to go with a true 34 or a close equivalent. I may have to step down a little which in true dimensions isn't much since these 34s are truly only 33.5s.

 

Are you lifted? How much? Any rubbing?

 

Total right at 3in for now, an zero so far. One of the many benefits of running a useful tire and not anything super wide.

 

Yeah, Interco is a pretty small company and they don't have the best distributer network. I live in Denver, and the 2 distributers here (4Wheel Parts and Les Schwaab) really try to stick it to you $$ wise - if I was a conspiracy guy I'd say they're trying to squash sales in favor of other brands. I ordered this set directly from Interco. $200/tire, no shipping. This is the 2nd truck I've had Truxus tires on. If I have any complaint it's that they can be hard to balance.

 

Took some pics of skinnys that I use on 3 of my trucks left to right 235 85/16 used Hankoot MT's, New spare 255 85/16 Toyo MT and Never used spare 255 80/17 Cooper St maxx. It's obvious in the pictures that the Toyo's tend to run on the big side while the Coopers run on the small side... Both are great tires I have had a total of 5 sets of St maxxs between my old Dodge cummins and my 4runner still one of my favorite tires.

Anyone out there loving those 34x10.5 17” KO2’s? I am curious to hear about the ride quality.

 

If you go to ebay and put 255-85-16 in the search,you'll come up with a lot of "offbrand" tires. Something to consider.

 

I'm really curious too. I've wheeled with a few guy who had KO2s, and I've been really impressed with how they do in the snow.

I like the width. It isn’t exactly skinny, but is proportionally lean with the sidewall being so tall.

 

I think it's the ratio that's important. I'd absolutely consider a 37x12.50 or 40x13.5 skinny.

 

I’ve been running this size for almost two years and I love them. Great denensions, plus a great tire for anything you throw at it.

 

I have the same wheel specs as you. I assume you have done a cmc, is the tire clearing steel with flexing?

 

Yes, I have a CMC but no other trimming. I’ve heard it rub twice and full flex and lock, but not bad. I was able to max out my caster when I first got my lift and that helped tremendously

 

Any 255/80 17s in a load c?

The Goodyear Authority is a great tire. I have them in 265/70R17.
Bought them because just about every Walmart around kept them in stock. Which I thought was good because if something happened to one of them on a trip I wouldn't be very far from a new tire.
But they discontinued them from what I'm finding, so now I'm hunting for a new favorite tire.
Hope the Cooper Dicoverer S/T Maxx in 255/80r17 will be it. I sure like the way it looks.

Not that I have seen thus far, but as I said, I am still trying to dig around and find all the options. I will be updating the first post these evening with the recommendations folks have been posting.
Hopefully after a few weeks we can have a very strong list.

 

When they get to work on 2019's calendar there will be a submissions thread. I'm not sure when it is though.
