    None at this point
Ordered the Smittybilt XL the other day without noticing the measurements. I believe it’s going to be 16” longer then my 3rd gen shortbed. Has any of you mounted one of these to a 2nd or 3rd gen shortbed and how was the fit? Also wondering which would be a good bed rack that’s high enough to put the extra length over the cab? Thanks for any help.

I don't have a bed rack but mounted on my shell. I take this thing everywhere, even on some gnarly trails with a bunch of bumping around and a lot of gear in the bed. My Bajarack is adjustable upwards so I raised the front of the rear rack about 3 inches from front rack and have they have not touched to date. It overhangs in bout the front and rear by about 8 inches.

If it's not going over the roof of the cab at the starting point that is actually at the cab it will stick out past the tailgate about 20 inches. Again, this is if you have the XL.

Not mine, but I recall seeing this pic when I was looking at which model tent to buy. The XL mounted on a DCSB:

Hi, interested in this setup as well. Just recently purchased a 2019 tacoma and looking for bed rack that would accept smitty XL over the cab as I do not like the overhand.

I have the XL but also a long bed. It extends slightly off of the back while leaving a couple of inches of room by the cab to be able to velcro the cover on.

Is there any issue with the tent not being centered on the cross bars?

I’m getting an XL delivered tomorrow and I have a shortbed. I’m putting on the KB Voodoo Hi Rise for tonneau covers. I’ll post some pics after I get it put on.
I know it’ll stick out quite a bit but I need the bigger tent.
If it’s bad, I’ll get a camper eventually.

Just going to put more stress on the tent and mounts for weight over that section when folded out. I'd mount the rear bar as far back as possible (it can go back farther than that pic), and put the lighter person on the overhang.

Mine is getting delivered today and I did the same thing without even thinking. I have the Cali Raised shorty bed rack, we'll see how it plays out and I'll post my progress. From what I'm told it'll be just fine as long as the support rails are over the rack. Worst case scenario I sell it on Ebay, best case scenario it works just fine, mediocre scenario I upgrade to a prinsu roof rack and Cali Raised tall bed rack but that'll be $$$$.

yeah hose bars should be more centered under that tent...too much weight on the unsupported side might have some unwanted consequences.

Probably be best to add a third support bar underneath...move that 2nd one more toward the middle. 2 bed bars for a tent that size seems risky

I have a Smittybilt RTT but not the XL. I honestly wouldn't mind the overhang on the short bed, I guess it could provide some shade.
