Good morning, I’m new to this- just created an account, but I’m always reading forums when I have questions about my truck. Maybe someone can help me out with this. My drivers side front wheel started making a grinding noise yesterday when i went to drive it. It started randomly. I was told a couple of months ago I should get a new bearing, which I haven’t yet. I took a video of the grinding noise, so maybe someone has had a similar situation and can give me some answers. I’m going to get to the mechanic tomorrow, but I know nothing about vehicles and am not sure if I should drive it to work tomorrow! Thank you!

How many miles on it? If you were told a couple of months ago that you need wheel bearings (and you should do both sides at the same time), that's very likely the cause. Then again, it's pretty hard to diagnose noises over the internet.

As for driving it, that kind of depends on how far whatever it is that's making the noise is from clutching its chest. If it's really loud, don't drive it any further than your mechanic's shop.

I have 198k Miles on it. Thank you for your response. My mechanic shop isn’t far from me, so I’ll just head there tomorrow afternoon to get it looked at. I think that’s my best bet!

Did the person who suggested the wheel bearing a couple of months ago give you a reason he/she thought you needed to replace it?
