Agreed. Thought they were made out of some alien metal or something. Kinda shocked by ARB. Thanks

No idea, I assume we're talking steel.. But 3mms is 1/8"ish. Depends on what kind of wheeling you do. Thicker is heavier and cost more, usually. If you grind on a regular basis go 3/16", if you are mall crawler occasional light trail wheeler 1/8" is good. Its all about what you really need...

Just bolted up my Pelfreybuilt aluminum skids.
Is the transfer case skid (w/exhaust reroute) supposed to hang that low in the last pic?

The skid does angle down slightly just before the bend. Do you have a better photo that you could send us ?(michael@pelfreybilt.com)

It does look correct but we are happy to confirm :)

    That does look correct

The reason they slope down a little is, that’s the center of the break over angle so we “preload” the skid just a touch so it had better strength in the main contact point.

ARB uses 3mm in the skins of their bumpers, which gain strength by all the folding. I assume their skid plate intention isn't hard core rock crawling but occasional scrape and bumps and compared to the stock stamped front skid and complete lack of anything else they'll be an improvement with less weight penalty. Aluminum would be an option to lose weight but it's also been done and steel is nice because you can hammer it back straight and weld on it in the field. It's a different target market and anyway, options are good. What's the point of another set of "Me too!" 3/16" skid plates?

I have that same skid set up. It's been adequately "tested". (ie pounded on)

The term "tougher'n a $2 steak" comes to mind. You will be pleased with your purchase.

Are there any fabricators that have skids in stock and ready to ship out?

I have the SOS Concepts IFS but idk if there would be any problems when they are mounted together.

Mine looks nearly identical to the version below (without the skull stamp)

@Mademan925 please add SOS Concepts for the poll if this is to be an all inclusive listing. Local to South Carolina.

    http://sosoffroadconcepts.com/

Second gen, third gen skids (with trap door for oil canister) . armor. steel . alum. if you dont see it listed, ask, we likely can do it.

    Thank You

Meh - it was my own doing for being frugal lol another member was selling it for $200 so I couldn't pass up a thick ass skid!

On a side note - I see how your guy's IFS and mid skid come together...would this mean I would have to remove all three skids in order to do an oil change?

not necessarily, it is possible to remove the IFS from the mid and get the IFS out, but it would leave the mid unsupported where they join up. would just need to prop something under the mid for a bit, jackstand, etc.

Edit.....if I were you, I might find a local fab guy to cut a hole and make a door. would save so much aggravation

Good to know - good thing I have a shit ton of jack stands to assist with this. I was an eager dumbass and didnt even lift up the truck to do the IFS install so there I was with a 50+lb skid on my belly wiggling underneath the truck like a worm lining up holes...

Dang, I forgot about this thread. Picked up my SOS ifs skid from Eddy back in December. Don’t have any installed pics, but here’s something to look at...
