I remember about 20 years...damn I feel old saying that, some guy was pulling a trailer full of rebar, hitch let go and when the chains took up the slack it yanked his little truck so hard it spun him sideways and flipped him. What a mess that was.

When I moved back up north in 2002, I rented a car trailer (Not the dolly) to load my Tacoma up on and pull behind the uhaul truck. The dude hooked it up to the uhaul on pleasantburg drive and I drove the 24 ft uhaul pulling the full size car trailer about 8 miles back to my place.

I got in the truck and drove it up onto the car trailer.......the coupler that attaches to the ball popped off and up about 3 ft in the air.

I drove it all that way thru traffic and the latch wasn't even down. The chains were on but it wasn't latched. I felt sick for about an hour.

 

It was over and done with. No one dieded.
I was just ready to go home.
