My first question is why do you have to replace it?

Had a leveling kit installed awhile back and I’ve started to notice a thumping noise coming from the front end at low speeds. I went under and was wiggling things around and felt that the drive side shaft had a good amount of play and the passenger didn’t. Took it to a shop and they told me that that’s what the problem was

I haven’t tried to put it in 4wd yet but I did grab ahold of the driver side cv and it has a lot of play in it (Unlike the passenger side)

Doesn't mean it is bad do the test in 4WD first and see if the rumble goes away

My 2008 does the same thing and many other people have reported that as well. I think it might be normal. I have no oil leaking out of it.

Well I’m just very confused and don’t want to spend the money replacing it if that’s not the problem. I took it back to the ship I got the lift installed at and they took my into the garage and showed me the shaft moving and said that that’s the only thing it could be.... so I’m confused lol

Don't be confused drive it in 2 wheel drive, and see if it rumbles. Then put it in 4 wheel drive and see if it goes away

So I drove home and it still made it in 4wd. But I’ve noticed it doesn’t make he thumping noise until I drive it around for awhile. Almost like it has to warm up first....? idk what to think anymore.

ECGS NEEDLE BEARING ELIMINATOR. Tell your shop to install this for you. Then if the problem doesn't go away which I'm sure it will, then move on to the cv

Pretty easy if you have the tools and know how to remove the cv

Is there any videos of the sound a bad needle bearing makes? I’ve read some and people describe it as a growling type sound as mine is more of a clunk sound at low speeds. Worth looking into though because I did just get a leveling kit installed and the video says a needle bearing is a common cause after installing a lift.
