yeah Bill, I was too, but you know how insurance works.. its cheaper for them to total cars these days. Pay out the book value, and make up as much as possible at a salvage auction.

The pics don't really do the damage justice. the unibody where the door meets the fender was crushed in pretty bad. I think that was the deciding factor for them. lots of labor cost involved. plus the wheel was Blown out and shoved up to the front of the well so there is suspension damage as well.

I'll get a pic of the new truck up. It's dirty right now from the winter drive home yesterday. but I'll post one today of the two trucks together while the '05 is still here.

Luckily for me I rent this house. so my landlord is dealing with the garage issues. I have never been so glad NOT to be a home owner at this time. he has to completely tear down and rebuild the garage.

They gave me $13666.94 for my truck which is the fair bluebook value, however we cannot replace the truck for anything close to that. It was nice not having a car payment , but oh well thats life I guess.

Luckily everyone was OK and no injuries or deaths occurred. Just a big $$ inconvenience for me

At least they gave you a half ways decent price for that but you are correct replacing it for that would be extremely tough. I looked for my 05 for several months and it had higher mileage when I bought it and was able to get it for less than your pay out but was not an easy task. If you go newer with fewer miles that's like half of what one goes for.

I skimmed it. Looked at the picks. Saw the comment about the speedway blue. Remembered I had seen a nice replacement. Missed the 1 line in 2 pages of thread regarding the 14 tacoma replacement. My bad. Just trying to be helpful. Maybe the link will be beneficial for someone else since I can't post it in the for sale section yet.

I tried to buy it but my reasonable offer was rebuffed. Even when I pointed out similar pricing for 14s and 15s I was told their pricing was in line with KBB good pricing or some such nonsense. Alot of dealers are pricing low mileage tacos similarly regardless of year. Weird. I ended up purchasing a 14 XSP-X 4x4 with 25k miles for $28,500. It's not speedway blue but I can live with it.

So I said I'd Post a Pic of the new 14 truck with the 05 while it was still here.

Yeah thanks for the Link to the Speedway blue but that price is a bit outrageous. unless it was kept in a garage since 11.

My 14 is Pretty loaded with 55,200 miles on her. I paid 23,500 for it which is almost exactly KBB value on this truck.

I noticed the suspension is a little sweeter than my 05. probably just newer, but seems more plush over bumps.

for the 2wd question in the snow... I bought the truck when I lived in Florida. then I moved to the Klondike of North NY in 2016.
Thats why I had sand Totes in the back which destroyed the tailgate. those really helped the rear dig in a lot.

Well guys, they hauled her away today just after this pic was taken. Its amazing how I am not really a person who cares too much about "Stuff" but this truck was a part of me, even my wife was sad when they took her. It's the end of an era.

Anyways thanks guys for listening, I'm a Tacoma Man for life.
