What is the best "plug and play" option for second gen led headlight bulbs? I can't seem to find a go to choice in all of my google searches

I am a big fan of these guys, Cyclops Adventure Sports, I have their bulbs in my motorcycle and they have been steller for 15,000+ miles! They just released bulbs that have a "shield" for low beams.

Go with the 85/80w Hypers for best low beam performance.

Maybe because a high powered halogen upgrade will significantly out perform an LED retrofit “upgrade”. The halogen optics are completely wrong for LED and will result in reduced overall performance.

I looked at all the options for headlight replacement about 6 months ago and ended up just getting an OEM set on the web for about $20 bucks. Changing to LED/HID was just simply too much trouble for little gain. The original bulbs lasted 7 years and were fine. In addition to the cost for LED I recently found out that "cheap" LED sets can also interfere with radio reception. Basically it came down to cost and convenience (it took less than 5 min to change out the bulb set too). Big boy rules apply so you can do what you want.

This is due to EMI (Electromagnetic Interferance) which can manifest itself in a number of ways, static over the radio is most common. It can also interfere with CB radio/short wave radio communication. Some do it, some don’t. HIDs can do the same thing.

I'm very satisfied with my H4 LED bulbs from SoCalMotoGear.com, I bought them as the GL1500 kit, they're drop in replacements, have a sharp cut off, don't scatter the light, run very cool, and are completely fanless. The use an aluminium coated copper ribbon for heat dissipation and they work quote well.

The osram IR halogen bulbs are more powerful but I much prefer the cool 5000k colour of LED's. Plus I've seen too many stock headlamp assemblys bubble and melt just from the weaker stock halogens so the lower the temperature inside the housing the better IMHO.

And besides, if I REALLY need more light I can put those IR Halogens to shame...
