Should I just bite the bullet and pay for an ATF drain and fill?

So after doing the ECU TSB my shifting had gotten better but I'm still having the harsh downshifts when coming to a stop and this sort of jerking when going from P to D or P to R or D to R.

I'm convinced that low ATF isn't the only issue at play here but it does seem to be one of the issues. Putting aside the ridiculousness of having to pay for an ATF check and top-up on a brand new truck I don't think it's reasonable to risk excessive wear all because I don't want to shell out the ~$180 (CAD) to get this checked and it'll only cost me if it ends up being full (but then there's the trust element of whether they are going to actually check).

I'm not mechanically savvy otherwise I would have just bought a used vehicle and dealt with the headaches myself.

You did a ECU TSB on a 2017? I though that was a 2016 issue.

My dealer said there was a TSB for the vehicle when I explained to them the symptoms I was having.

Make them a deal. If it's full you pay. If it's low they pay. Then make sure they do it correctly.

How do I do this short of arriving with an armed gang at my back?

Know the procedure. Know it takes hours to do. Ask to watch when they fill it. Also get a print out of the ecu and trans calibration numbers so you know you are up to date. All this info is on this site.

I don't think they'll agree to this one. 95% sure they'll say something like "for safety regulations we can't have you in there" or something like that. The dealer has a waiting room that overlooks the repair bay though.

As for the print outs, I think that's reasonable. I'll call them and ask.

If you are will to pay, it's your truck. If they won't. Another dealer will.

Yeah. The only thing is that this dealer gave me a lifetime powertrain warranty as long as I service the vehicle with them. Hopefully I can get this sorted out without having to go somewhere else.

When was the update for the 2017's? I had mine flashed back in November, which helped a little with the shifting, but seriously contemplating getting one of the mods on here to completely change the shift pattern, as highway driving is annoying as hell (driving 370 miles to work. Yes, that's 370) Really wish they'd fix the tranny to shift at certain MPH, or give us the option to attach it to the ECT button.

If they gave you an actual lifetime powertrain warranty why worry? Yes I understand that the transmission isn't shifting quite properly but if you have a lifetime warranty you don't really have anything to worry about in regards to excess wear/damage from being low on fluid.

It's less worry and more trying to fix the driving experience.
