I have a 2017 SR5, Trying to decide if i should level or run normal. Whats the largest tire size you can run without level? Im looking at getting the BFG All Terrain tires 31 or 32in. Would 32s fit without a level? Just want my truck to look normal, not small and lame but not super jacked up. I drive with a sled in the back all winter. Any comments?

Biggest misconception about bigger tire sizes is that a lift is required. When you lift it, are you altering the bump stops? Not on an IFS you're not (in general). If not, can the strut or shock fully compress to the same limit (extended vs compressed lengths)? If it can, then whatever tire fits on it when it's stock is the same size tire that you can fit when it's lifted. A lift simply changes the ride height of the vehicle, but the range of motion of the tire is pretty much the same (except if the shock can't compress as much).

So by checking the full travel of the suspension and measuring around where the tires could/would hit (body mount, plastic inner fenders, etc), you can determine what size tire should/would fit.

I've seen a ton of people think they need to add more lift just to fit 1-2 sizes of a bigger tire, but did you ever try it without the lift?

A new Jeep Wrangler for example can fit 35's as long as you extend the bump stops and trim the fender flares here and there. A 2-3" lift on those generally come with bump stop spacers, so everyone thinks you need a 2" lift to fit 35's. All you really need is the bump stop spacers and to trim so that the tires don't travel as far up into the fenders.
