I also thought what was taken out if you claimed 0 was around 10% of your income.

Nice! Idk why my dad doesn't get an accountant, I think he's just too cheap to do it even though he makes plenty to not have that issue

I don't know much about taxes and what not, but all I know is, the less you claim, the more taxes they pull from your check, and the more you claim, the less they pull. At the end of the year, if you claim lower, you should get more back than if you claim higher. That's the extent of my knowledge on taxes and how they work

I cheated my way through all my accounting and finance classes so I wouldn't have a damn clue  but I figure being single, only have one bank account with not a lot in it, and an investment account with also not a lot in it, I wouldn't gain much from having an accountant. I'll keep using the turbo tax my dad buys each year until he finally gets himself an accountant

All my stuff is written off. My truck is a company vehicle. Since I have a home office, a good percentage of my household expenses are written off too. You shouldn’t wait...you can even write off the expenses you incur to start your business so there’s no reason to wait.

Mine chrages 400.00- i know it is more. His race horse won thw Pacific Classic one year in Del Mar. I guess i helped pay for it! Also he had a Magnum size bottle of Woodford Reserve with a checkered flag, hand painted with gold flake. Lol.
    :deadhorse:

I do HoH, paper only- no e-submission. I am weird.

For me- difference from CA and SC taxes completely paid for my move in 3 years.

I pay every year, on purpose. I hate loaning the government my money, interest free then "applying" for them to give me back my money. I am weird!

Been using my same accountant- since 1998 or so. He is in Arcata/Pasadena. He and his team coach/mentor on guidelines when ever we ask, etc. very available.

    This is good!

I claim lots, so the fed takes the absolute least amount of my money away. More than anything, I hate applying for the fed to give me back my money.

^^This! Also, I set mine up so my SC "refund" pays for my fed tax bill. We force the credit union to cash out the debit card they give us.

Then I pay the fed tax bill the last possible moment allowed.

I do the same now. Claim withholdings where they take out just enough not to have to pay or wait for too much back. When I was consistently getting way too much back in refunds, I adjusted since the government doesn’t give me interest on my money they’re borrowing.

This reminds me that I’ll probably have to adjust my withholdings again this year due to some changes...

I used to brag about the money I was "refunded"

Then a mentor of mine coached me up! :)

But it sure is fun to get a nice check from the government once a year and then instantly blow it on truck stuff

We're likely paying taxes this year. Cashed out a retirement account to fund the closing costs on this house. Next year I hope we get a nice homeowners + child credit for a :luvya: refund.

Some people are bad at saving money and need the government to do it for them. #lumpsum
