I'm changing the placement of my water bottles. Got a new book on greenhouses, well new to me, and it suggested having as little surface area of the bottles touching the outside walls as possible. With an entire large side of the bottles touching the outside wall it looses a lot of the heat it absorbs to the outside. You want that heat to radiate into the greenhouse, not the outside world. Here is a photo of my new bottle shelf. It also allows for a lot more of them. I will probably eventually put them all like this with the cap toward the outside wall, but it will take a while to fill up this shelf because we can only drink so much juice.

Fuck yeah we have. Down in the creek, the temps can reach down into the 20’s. No snow. We’re about 5miles off the Pacific Coast. Although, this year, it’s been tame.

Cool thing about the salvaged windows, that dictated how the greenhouse was built, was when we looked up the address where they came from. They were salvaged 5 miles from us. We salvaged from a yard in Glendale.

i have some big living room windows I salvaged from a friends house after he put new ones in...one window is at least 4'x4' old double pane from the 70's but not sealed like the new ones so should work good for a green house side.

We didn’t want any “newer” looking windows. Old school stuff that still has the glazing from long ago. Pretty cool beans. The remaining openings were shut with plastic. Can’t recall what’s it’s called, but NASCAR uses them for their windshields.

I never thought of that but a good idea, also A neighbor owns a framing/construction company and he has a lot of windows sometimes. I need to remember to ask him if he has extras. last time he was using them to build his FIL a house so I think many of them got used up.

I wondered if those would work for the roof side of the greenhouse? I tried getting some sliding doors from my friends place but someone else already had dibs on them :( I think hes got another set though...so maybe this year I might get those.

    Started my 2018 garden today.

Had to wade through snow to get to the greenhouse.
    IMG_2090.jpg

Planted onions and leeks. Next week broccoli and Brussels sprouts.

I might have to look into this... I want something like that but I was worried about the snow load, but I guess with the pitched angle it slides off before it crushes.
