There are 3 options for how much of the seat is actual leather. Which one did you chose?

This portion of the front seat bolster is leather in both options as far as I'm aware.

Is there a way to check if you don't know remember what you chose? I feel like the place we had it done in NC just did one type and you got to pick whatever colors/design you wanted, plus heat or cool.

I didn't know that Katzkin even offered that poor quality bicast stuff. I thought that was part of their whole marketing that they use only leather that is dyed all the way through.

OK, according to the images your showing it would look like it. A few unfortunately have commented as to what they see in the material that is separating. The reason I am mentioning this is I'm looking into getting Katzkins for my tacoma and paying the extra for the full leather. hmmmm

Also want to add my insight, I've been known for my katzkin leather seats for years and they have practically no flaws.

Also sorry to say that is where your ass slides in and out of the truck. I don't mean to call anybody out or jump to conclusions but you have obviously nicked it with maybe a belt/wallet/metal piece from jeans/shorts.

Have not read all the context here but you need to be conditioning it every now and then - probably every couple of months. And yes absolutely no armor all of the like. After 4 or so years mine are still fairing up great. You can see the edge where my not so big ass has eaten at it very minuscule. (Yes I went out of my way to take this pic just for this thread :))

Sure, my legs slide across that when I get in and out of the truck. But no different than on every other car I've owned, and those were all older with many more miles, cared for the same as this, and none were breaking down like this.

I'm not wearing some tactical belt with weapons and tools, mostly just slacks and jeans to my office job & back. Maybe I should've stuck with sweatpants or a bathrobe? That'd be nice.

Well I'm more confused than before but maybe this will mean more to you. First off the leather we install at our dealership is always their FULL leather which costs about $300 more so my experience with Katzkin will be different than OPs because as far as I can tell we only install their "upgraded" leather aka "Tuscany" (i wasn't really aware of that difference its just what we've always ordered). It is however FINISHED leather so I'm a little confused on if leather conditioner is still applicable or if there is a difference in finished vs unfinished leather in regards to what conditioner to use. :annoyed:

When I asked about the cheaper vinyl/leather mix they insisted its still mostly leather with a "durable protective finish that is bonded IN to the leather".... here's where I got confused, when I tried to clarify "oh so thats bonded leather then?".... "NO its bonded IN to the leather not on TOP as a seperate layer like other ones". Given this was NOT the actual Katzkin rep but an equally reputable rep from our local vendor who's been doing this for as long as Katzkin has been around so they're overall trustworthy. But really seems like they didn't actually know what they were talking about here.

All I really got out of it was "yes it has vinyl, but its better than OTHER vinyl mixes because.... reasons" Reasons that aren't quite clear I guess.

Anyways I still have overall had a fantastic experience with Katzkin products so I do trust that its a quality product. Just confused as to what they actually do differently than normal bonded leather (if in fact its different at all).

Very interesting, thanks. I think you nailed it with the part I quoted above.

Maybe @jhuey8947 knows more about the different types of leather Katzkin offers?

What would you recommend for Softex? I’m kinda stumped on what to use.

    YOU GUYS
Ok I’m still trying to process all of this but here’s the update:

    1. My Toyota dealer and the original owner of the truck were either misinformed or straight up lied to me that they put a Katzkin interior in my truck. To clarify: this is NOT Katzkin leather.

    2. I spoke with a rep from Katzkin (before I knew it was a different brand of leather) who was very kind and willing to help. She called my dealer to look into it and found out that my truck has one of their competitor’s interiors.

She then called me back to tell me the bad news. But get this: to show me (and the world) the quality of Katzkin leather and their above-and-beyond customer service, she told me they are going to replace my entire interior with Katzkin leather at no cost to me, even though I’ve never bought a thing from them.

    My mind is blown.
