What a Beautiful place to fish. Wish I had this scenery close to home!

surfnmoto2: I know exactly you mean about the fly shop! Used to be a GREAT Orvis shop in Tionesta, Pa. Owner was the mayor of town, and a Penn State entomology graduate. Great guy to deal with - used to joke he couldn't sell anything to me and my buddy when we went in (which was very often!) because we lived in Ohio, even though we were both Penn State grads!! His wife bred Brittanies, too - got my third (and best/last) one from him. Unfortunately they uprooted and moved to Virginia and sold the place. The new owner would just talk to his buddies or clients - he was trying to be a guide, too. I went in once soon after the change over to buy stuff.....waited at the register with my stuff and he looked over a few times and just kept talking to his buddy. Walked out without anything and never went back!!! Shop was closed within a year...what a shame, the previous owner had built up a great business/clientele, and the new guy just ran it into the ground.

Sorry for the rant - got another one on a Christmas tree farm, but that is off-topic here!

Haha. The only road kill I'd find around here would be canine and feline with a crow now and then!

Yep, you'd think the owners of these smaller shops would be all about making customer service their #1 priority, especially when customers can just stay home and click n' pay for just about anything these days! Since I'm new to tying it would be nice to have a local shop with a helpful staff, someone to explain the materials I need. Guess I'm too old school for these yuppy shop clerks!

I'm laughing so hard at this post. Not because it's a bad idea, just that I travel a set route and see the same coworkers. Once they found out that I was "collecting" road kill, I would be the base of so many jokes.

surfnmoto2.......look up Flyfishers paradise in Pa. Should have a phone # to talk. They may not know too much about California fishing, but they could definitely explain the materials, tools and uses and possibly books/dvds to help tying flies.

    SCREW BASS PRO!!!

You’d think with the quantity they buy, they’d be able to pass those savings on to their customers... NOPE!!!

Bought a pack of hooks for tying, $11 at BPS - $6 at every small shop online!

Lead eyes - Also double what everywhere else is charging!

The only reason I shop at BPS is because I keep getting gift cards there... And then I have to spend 15 min at the register getting everything price-matched!

Online, Feather-Craft has always treated me right. I also like Madison River Flyfishing Company. And my last couple of tying purchases came from The Caddis Fly Shop - Great prices and free shipping over $50

I just googled Owens river hatch chart, and several results popped up.

I found and printed some for my favorite streams, and file them with my tying gear.

Pulled out the old setup. Would this be too much for trout? Bought it for bass a few years back and I just couldn’t put in the time I wanted to with it.

I couldn't get the link to open.

    Edit:chrome being slow.

I see no reason why that rig wouldn't work.

Have their Sawtooth. Have had it for about 4 years now. Like it more than a Maxcatch I have.
    Very good entry level rod.
Really itching to get an upgrade from those this year. Looking at an Tenkara no Oni. Maybe :anonymous:
