I have a 2012 with the JBL audio system and backup camera on the touchscreen. I have also upgraded the front speakers to Focals and plan to the tears also.

The stock head unit will become very blurry with white lines going horizontally across the screen. It is not constant but getting worse.

I’m going to need a new double din to replace it with. I want to retain the backup camera, USB aux plugin, steering wheel controls, microphone and Bluetooth. I don’t really need the navigation.

So what are some options that I should look into?

I don’t think you can retain the use of the factory Bluetooth microphone. If so I will get a new HU too.

no to retaining the factory mic but everything else you can. this question of what should I get is such a broad question. yes crutchfield is a good site but that can only do you so much. reviews are good but you have to remember that everyones expectations are different and what they want is doing or sometimes unrealistic. so many people say I don't need nav I want bt but there is some much more than that. do you want cd/dvd or you want mechless? you say no nav. why? because you use your phone or don't give a shit. if you use your phone for maps them maybe you would want to look at apple carplay or android auto ( and it does more than just the maps that's 1 example ). if that doesn't interest you then same the money and don't get carplay/aa. just get a ddin multimedia player. do you want wireless or are you ok with a wire? do you want cvlear resistive or capacitative screen? on and on.... looking at a pic on the internet can only do you so much. you need to also find a couple stereo shops and look at them live. touch, feel, look at how the operating system works. all the manufactures are different. plus, ces just ended and within the next 2 months the new models will start to trickle out. do you want to wait and look at those or do you need now. if you wait to see the new models and you don't like them then maybe you find a model now on the cheap. only you can find one you like. people can just recommend.

So I’m at Car toys Looking at the pioneer Mvh 2300 nx. There telling me that to retain to premium sound they need to charge me to wire it in.

Is there a aux amp with the JBL system or is it built in to the oem JBL head unit.

Even if you didn’t have the premium system they would have to wire it in. They are morons and that is how they get you overcharge you. As for the unit... it’s a good one no cd/dvd if your ok with that. You can pm me if you want and I talk to you about that unit and install.

Well instead of that one I went with the Pioneer AVH2330NX ($399) This one has the DVD player and CD and for $20 more it would dumb not to get this one.

The install price is ridiculous but I have no confidence when it comes to car audio stuff.

its the same price on Crutchfield.com and they send you all the install stuff for free. Plus they send you detailed instructions and have a legit install help line that will stay on the phone and walk you through the process. Sorry to push Crutchfield so hard but it started in a garage and I know the family back in VA. Seriously good people and customer service.

I went with a Kenwood kdc-x701. Single din and it sounds pissah! Just the hu with the stock speakers and I'm shocked that they sounds as good as they do. This hu has built in crossovers with adjustable slopes from 6 to 24 db/octave. 5v pre-outs...I can hardly wait for the warmer weather to do speakers and an amp...

I just installed a Kenwood DNX574S and it's sounding better already, can't wait to upgrade the speakers in a couple weeks.

Crutchfield does not send you free stuff for install. They sell the dash kits and wire harness etc as packages at a good price.

Don't think you can go wrong with Pioneer, I can almost guarantee they'll have something you'll like that works. I have a 2013 and went with a 4100 NEX a few years ago, think they're up to 4201 now.

Take a look at their units with Car Play and Android Auto if you'd like to connect your phone. Retained everything (backup camera in the mirror on 2013 so no change there), volume, mode, and buttons to change tracks work fine. I did get it professionally installed more so for the reason that I can take it back if things stop working the way they should.

Ditch lights, front LED light bar, leather seat covers, bed tonneau cover.
I'm going for the alpine halo 9, so long as it isn't more than 899.00, it's pricey but has all the features I'm looking for.
