OK, so you got the newer features... I have no TRAC OFF light, just an AUTO LSD light (in H2 only) and the VSC OFF symbol... and when the system works, flashing VSC symbol and flashing TRAC light, very briefly.

The problem with this thread is that so many people are posting about what their 2 gens do. It would all be so much easier to understand how the 3rd gens work if that was all that was posted...this is after all the 3rd gen forum.

Obviously there's a lot of confusion, hence the 21 pages of discussion and all the testing and compiling of 2016+ data by helpful people to serve as a resource for others. If we're going down this road... I agree with mountain minstrel. I'm sure everyone who has posted is a perfectly nice person, but the pre 2016 information takes away from the conversation much more than it adds. I personally can't wait until the new thread is created with the latest and greatest information for 3rd gen traction/stability (and thanks again to those people... I wish I could contribute more but my new-to-me 2016 isn't even registered yet:( )

Do you believe they would remain stagnant with development of their TRAC systems? In my eyes, that’s 7 years of making the system better.

I'm sure they did, but it still does the same thing maybe a smidge better without anyone actually noticing.

Same thing? What does development do?

MANY of us SR 4x4’s are experiencing some beautiful black magic in 4LO.

I’d suggest you step into a 3rd Gen.

The new TRAC system smells like MotoGP developement to me. They never stop on traction control. Believe me, they found something.

I don't need to step in one to know what I already know about the 4wd and traction control. It does the same thing off-road as my does now. With the exception of "mall control"

I feel like I'm getting long winded myself. We may have to agree to disagree and that'll be fine. But I'm not giving up yet :p

I maintain the triangle chart got you mixed up but lets focus in on one thing in particular. The way you see it quick pressing the VSC button increases traction control. I think this is fundamentally backwards. Why would you press the button that turns TRAC off to increase traction control? I think the way it works in 2WD and the triangle chart is what brought you to that conclusion. Some may consider the transition from TRAC ON to ALSD TRAC OFF an increase in traction control but it's really not. It's just a transition to a different kind. And because it's still traction control they do not turn on the TRAC OFF light on the dash.

    tracoff.jpg

Let's read into this description here. I think it is very telling to what the TRAC OFF light on the dash indicates. It also lays out exactly the type of scenario that you would use this mode in. You are stuck and TRAC is failing to do anything really because it's cutting all power. In this scenario "You may need to turn the system off..." It does not say when stuck blah blah quick press VSC to remove engine regulation and retain LSD functionality for net traction control increase. I mean if that were the case they would have called it ALSD in 4Hi. That's exactly what that proposed mode is. I just don't see how it can be reasonably assumed for that to exist when the documentation in the manual and the lights on the dash indicate the contrary. And on top of all that the guys here have tested this and found no traction control in 4Hi TRAC OFF.

    Thanks!

Yes. It is the same as MT SRs and SR5. That's good company.

Sports MTs don't have A-TRAC. Just TRAC. When it functions in 4Lo, the light will flash on.

    +1

I don't think any MT ORs or Pros have posted up in this thread.

Yeah ATRAC is excellent. While not the same it's not far off rolling with a locked front and rear.

I haven't used TRAC much to be honest though, I normally turn it off in loose traction scenarios because I hate when it cuts power and I like to play around. It definitely does its job though and very well. We had icy roads here a week ago and I forgot to turn TRAC off. Took a turn that I had been getting very loose on with TRAC off and it was like I was on dry pavement. I could hear and feel it doing its thing.

I think the big difference between the two is the upgraded brake booster system thats on the OR and Pro models. I think that allows for stronger and more frequent application/release of the brakes.

Probably aren't many spots that 4Lo TRAC wouldnt make it and 4Lo ATRAC would but I do think they exist.

Still Good Enough Pics. Much Much thanks.

So I had at least a few errors, (which people have probably pointed out, but I have not been up on fixing).
I hope I didn't break anything that was correct.

Well I don't know if we will ever prove it much better than we have now. How about some double-checking guys. New thread time?
