I don't think you were suggesting it, I have seen it throughout the thread though.

If it was one trip, I would have no problem going over the "suggested" weight if needed and just be careful. If it was a regular thing, of course I'd get trailer brakes.

Damn, wealth of information! Thanks a ton guys, super helpful, gonna read through the towing thread that was posted here as well. Would have definitely thrown it in overdrive so thanks a million for that little bit of knowledge! To answer some of the other questions posed, no mountains or anything, relatively flat drive from Seattle to Portland all right around sea level. Prolly no need to bother with a weight distributing hitch either I assume? As far as trailer brakes go, not entirely sure how that works. The trailer is a rented one as well so I can't do any modification or anything to it, but, I've got zero idea how trailer brakes work or are set up, so not sure if that's an issue or if that's something that'd be included in it.

Last summer I towed an Acura Vigor on a Uhaul trailer from Orange County, SoCal to SF Bay area. I wouldn't describe it as fun but the Taco handled it just fine. Just take it slow and keep it in 4 (if AT). Should be no problem. Good luck.

This thread is about towing not toeing...^^^

Kidding aside I don’t think it was mentioned but don’t use the cruise control. Some rental trailers have built in brakes that are actuated by the hitch itself.
