Wow, I didn't think it would be so different! Hopefully it will translate into a farther throw, which is perfect since I always keep the fogs on anyways.

Thanks Rob!! I appreciate that you appreciate it and I’m glad I can help.

I definitely, really like them so far!! In about an hour or so I’m going back over to that same road and spot I took the previous comparison photos. I’m impressed with just how much of a difference there is between the two bulbs as well Drew. The bulbs themselves look completely different from the old version.

This is getting exciting. The best thing is, if they are that much of an improvement, I can move my old hikari totmy high beams and use the new ones as lows. Thank you Toyota for "interchangeable" highs/lows!

Alright guys here it is and MAN, WOW!! What a huge difference these New Hikari bulbs are. I’m amazed with the light output and what a difference the PHILLIPS Led is over the Cree LED.

(Note: In the first photo I was closer to the curve by about 15-20ft. Didn’t realize that till later. @RobP62 noticed it before I did.)

Notice the fence at the end of the road and just how much more lite up it is. The light output on these are incredible and I can definitely see other competitors going this route if they haven’t already. The throw diffence on these kills the other three sets of LED lights I have. Zero comparison. New Hikari Phillips for the WIN

Wow, that is a significant difference in throw!! :yay: Now I'm tempted to order these even tho I have fairly new HIDs in the LB (I can't put them in the HB cause then I can't flash idiots). oi, I hate these forums sometimes...just when you think you're done with something...:annoyed:

    @Parker315 ,
To echo what @ToyoDrew said, thank you very much for this Brett! Time is a valuable commodity and these days no one has enough of it. Money doesn't grow on trees either. So yes, thank you very much for using your time and money to help us and the rest of the community. If we ever meet, all the rounds are on me!

I wish all reviews were like yours. It's so very decisive, factual and undeniable.

Here's my assessment of the pictures and a couple questions too. Considering the rest of us are judging photos and not in person, the opinion I have is:

The new Hikari bulbs appear to have a smoother, softer, less harsh look. I think this is because the beam pattern in more uniformly distributed at all distances and angles. There are definitely less abberations or hot spots. To me they look equally as bright as the other two but more pleasant.

    @Sedyn said it best here:

"What I was saying pertains to any really bright light that isn’t flooding the total area you want to look.

When I have standard LB 55W HIDs, for me they are so bright that when my eyes adjust to looking into the area in front of me, and I look off to an area where they aren’t shining I can’t see anything, which can be my mirrors or whatever. You don’t look into a dark spot for long while driving. Soyour eyes are just non stop trying to adjust to too large of a difference in light intensity. Then they get strained as my drive is usually a solid hour each way. "

When I look at the bottom pic I have a better understanding now that's exactly what he ment.

You're right too Brett, the long range illumination is definitely more pronounced. You can definitely tell that is a wooden fence at the end of the road. And more important, that the road curves around a bend.

Hell yea, these new leds are the shiznit! Old version are out of my cart, new versions are in.

Guys, you all rock! Thanks again so much.

    So now my questions.
How come these (in general) lights get such a bad rap because the have cooling fans? Aren't they designed to withstand the elements, or pretty much you just know they will eventually fail? Would it be even more beneficial to run these Hikari's in the fogs too? Or are the Auxbeams fine?

Finally, when are we going to get a high beam money shot with the new Hikari's? Just kidding. But seriously, when? Naaa, just kidding. No, really, when? JK. But seriously, can we run these in the high beams?

    Thanks,
    Rob

A lot. You’d have to put it all in your cart to get an exact price though. I bought many on pre-order discount so I don’t think my price would be accurate regardless.

Cost is important but not the be-all end-all or I wouldn’t have bought a pro. I was way too worried about a cheap bulb blowing the body ECU to ever consider cost. I only considered quality.

As far as I could tell, no one was able to provide a product superior to VLEDS in my first applications and I liked them so much I decided to stick with them.

I’m the kinda Guy who drove past 4 shops to get to the specific one that would do the job right, and I wanted to maintain the integrity of the factory wiring system so no splicing was a must for me.

Not saying anything negative about shopping for cheap parts on the Chinese Amazon or whatever. It’s up to each individual to determine what to do with thier property.

Hey Rob!! Good morning my friend. Your very welcome for the post and I am so glad that it helped and was detailed enough to show differences. You are right the light throw is farther and the light isn't as "intense" but a very clean soft light output and bright enough to do what its intended.

The LED lights with the cooling fans get a bad wrap, well because they have a cooling fan. Most see it as just something else that could fail. Which i totally get, but with that said though. Computers also have cooling fans that spin constantly and how often do you see those go out? Almost NEVER. Does it happen, yes, but very rarely.

As for adding the Hikari to the fogs and high beams in addition to the low beams, well i dont see why not. Yes the AuxBeam's work just fine and are plenty bright. I'll throw the new Hikari lights in the high beams one day soon and test the difference between the old and new.

    Brett,
Good morning back atcha! Hey, before I forget, be ready over on the @mesojdm Ultimate Map and Dome light thread. Domes and some package deals are dropping today! Just an FYI. I'm picking up a Ultimate Red Dome if I am lucky.

Yes, clean is an excellent word to use! I can compare it to a high end stereo vs a loud stereo. Yea, the loud stereo might have the decibels but the quality is shit. THD or Total Harmonic Distortion is very high and therefor there is a lot of extra noise. The lower THD systems have a cleaner more refined sound allowing you to hear subtle aspects not possible with the lesser versions. I think the newer Hikaris are like that. The light is not as loud but is as you say, much cleaner and therefore more pleasing to the eye. These are definitely in my cart and will be what I buy for the lows, and likely for the highs too. If these have that throw and spread in lows I can only image what they will be like in the highs.

As for the fogs, after thinking about it, to be honest, I am sorta more interested in those changeable bulbs. The ones that go from white to amber and back. If they have enough "clean" light output in both modes, then for me in the snow I might be better off with those. I wish I could afford Squadron's but that's not the case right now. I am not opposed to running the new Hikari in them and adding the amber film to the glass some guys use. That is an effective way to get the same results and have a amber look when off. I dig that look. The thing is, then you are adding yellow to white for normal driving all the time, and like I keep saying, my fogs and lows are on all the time when I am moving. However, with the new Hikari LEDs in the lows, maybe I wont need to run fogs simultaneously for the added safety (why I run lights on all the time to begin with).

Anyway, yea, You Da Man! Great job. Hikari should be giving you those lights!
    Rob

OK wow - I had no idea that all you "lumen hounds" were switching out everything to LED.

Since LED tech changes hourly almost - what is the best plug-n-play OEM Fog replacement LED out there?

I am not adventurous enough to swap out my headlights just yet, fogs I am comfortable with.

So far chrome removal, darkened tail lights, fender flares, and tints
I will say Lasfit's look good, but are tricky to get to sit right

The LED bug is real. Once you change a few bulbs you’ll want to do the entire truck. I’m like you, not wanting to change anything but the bulbs on fogs, lows, and highs to keep it as low maintenance as possible. I think I’ve settled on the Lasfit for the fogs. Still not sure what to do with the high beams/low beams. Good luck!

Rob! Dude you are the man thanks for letting me know about the maps lights. I will definitely be looking out for those today. @Pistol Pete hooked me up with his V2 ultimate turn signals so I am good in that department now. They should be delivered today.

Great analogy with the sound system and that's a perfect comparison too. :headbang: lol

As for the fog bulbs, I think that those dual function white/ambers would be pretty damn cool. I'd say go for it and see what you think. Share photos too and your opinion. I haven't seen anyone on here yet get those. Worse case, you don't like them and you can just return them back to Amazon and get the others. I run my fog ALL the time. I like the extra light output and the way it looks to other drivers (HAHAHA). Just looks cool and clean with all the light on.:thumbsup:

So if I get that new light, I can run the old Hikaris in my fogs and highs...hmm..

I'm gonna have to get a roof top tent soon to live in...can't afford all these LEDs man!
