TRD PRO add a leaf

Has this been done? I searched and it's been asked at least twice, but no answer. My dealer said I don't know, then said the fox suspension would be affected negatively. I am not looking for lift, although I know it will be a byproduct of the AAL. Would a mild AAL be okay to do? Any pro owners added an add a leaf kit? Recommendations of what to go with?

EDIT: After pondering this a bit, i guess my only real question is: Can my rear trd fox shocks handle an AAL or will they become overextended?

 

If you are not using it for lift what are you using it for?

 

Loads in bed, towing. Have done neither yet, but come summer, with pros being level, i don't want the rear end sagging.

 

Dealer doesn’t know, period. They sell cars, much deviation from that and you’re asking the wrong person.

If you don’t want lift, I dunno what you can pick from, an AAL is a cheap payload upgrade. Next step is airbags. All will lift, so if you want to be “level,” you’ll only be level with a load. Your ass end will sit higher unloaded, 1-1.5” more than the front.

I would think most get the Pro for the way it comes stock without doing any mods to the suspension because of the negative effect it will have if you add anything more. I suppose you can add the AAL but you may not like the ride. $.02

 

Yea, I went to quote it and I got an error. I have no plans to swap out my suspension for another (kings, icon etc just for more lift.) For the type of off roading I will do, my clearance is more than sufficient. And I honestly love how smooth this fox set up is

Had the same question. I got this for the summer when I'm towing, etc.

You should talk to @Kleenax about his air bags, support when needed then airs them down when he doesn't.

 

Pro owner here. I did an AAL on my rear and it ended up being too much lift on the rear. Obviously helped with sagging lol.

I did Icon AAL

 

Air bags. Different springs are fine when loaded and suck when empty. Stock springs are great empty and sag fully loaded.

This is not a Pro issue, this is any vehicle who tows issue. Air bags are cheap and offer best of both worlds.

If you were towing with a Prius the solution would be the same.

 

This is what sucks about doing anything suspension wise to a pro. Ive weighed my options many times. The fox isn’t designed to work with anything. Even the icon 1.5 aal would have travel problems in the rear. I had to do kings 2.5 and ome dakars medium leaf pack. Maybe you can do the icon aal but only add one of the 2 leafs it includes?

I ordered a leaf pack from Deaver Suspension Inc. It is anleaf pack they designed so the truck would still function as designed while under weight.

OP are Sumosprings an option for you? sounds like that would fit your needs... unless you really need every inch of free articulation unaffected in the rear. i have them and they help just right, but that's for my needs..
