In the same trip I mentioned earlier in this thread, I drove a loaner AWD Audi to the top of a ski hill that was gravel during the summer. Turned off traction control and took off. Not one other vehicle on the road up or down. I had an ear to ear smile on my face. Definitely not enjoying myself if it's my own car. Rocks flying everywhere.

....and this is why you never buy a car that's been used as a rental lol.

Few years ago, I went with my mother and nephew to see our relatives in the Midwest. My mom quickly booked us a rental car online because it was Christmas and the pickings were slim, turns out all she could get was a brand new Dodge Challenger SRT with a 6 speed manual trans. She couldn't drive stick so I was having the time of my life that week driving that car around, almost made me wish I had a muscle car instead of my Tacoma when I got back home. Almost.

It made my supercharged 3.4l feel like a 3cyl Geo Metro though :(

I hate dealing with rental companies. The last time I rented (from Enterprise), they tried to blame me for some dent on the bottom of the rocker panel. The guy knew exactly where to look, which made me suspicious. I refused to pay for it. It dragged on for weeks, until their corporate called me and said don't worry about it.

I would much rather drive my own rig. I don't care if it's a 5k road trip. That is why I bought it to begin with.

    Well, there was this guy...

Albert Dancy Jr. of Sutton, West Virginia told his family that when he passed away, he wanted to be buried in his 1967 Chevy pickup truck. On February 15, Mr. Dancy was unfortunately shot and killed in a domestic dispute, so his son Adam gave his father the burial he always wanted. Dancy, an avid hunter and fisherman, was laid to rest in full camouflage with his beloved pickup, an Old Timer pocket knife and a Remington rifle.

And a copper coffin. One day far into the future, a future archaeologist is gonna find that, and say “he must have been a king, look at all this shit he was buried with”

How about starting a business? We customized a bunch of Tacoma’s and rent them to people who want to be cool for a couple of days!

I bought my truck to drive on road trips. I keep the miles down by driving an old Honda as a DD around town.

I take mine. I hate rentals. Too many restrictions and no manual trans available. Plus they are expensive.
