Any opinions one way or the other on why to keep the trailer or sell and get a camper? I have a 1967 Stevens M416 trailer and a 2017 Tacoma. The camper I was looking at is the GoFastCamper.

    Background:
-I try to camp once per month, mostly weekend trips to neighboring states and down forest service roads. We typically do not have a base camp, we tend to make camp where we can then continue exploring the next day and find a new camp.
-Bought the trailer and rebuilt it when I had a 2006 wrangler with no interior room
    -Now have a 2017 tacoma
-Travelers include me, my wife, and our 2 60lb dogs
-We camp year round. hot, cold, rain, snow, beach, dirt, etc.
-We have an RTT already and a 270 awning is on the way from China. Sadly the RTT does not support an awning attachment (old style sunday campers model)
-If we get the camper then i would sell the trailer and rtt to recoup some money

    Wants
-Safe place for my dogs to sleep where they are also contained (aka wont run off chasing squirrels and the such)
-Cooking/kitchen space (fridge, stove, prep area)
-Set up and break down camps quickly
-Maintain truck in mostly stock form for now, it is pretty capable already
    -Maintain upper teens/lower 20's MPG

I'd put the RTT on the 416 and spend a couple of grand on upgrades, solar, fridge, kitchen, to kit it out. The GoFast Camper is $5k base and still needs to be kitted out.

I like the idea of a base camp, drop the trailer and go exploring as an option. I also like a trailer for storage when not in use unless you can dedicate your Tacoma for an adventure vehicle.

Post pics of your current set-up.

The original plan was for the rtt to go onto the trailer, before buying the truck. If i keep the trailer then I will definitely do that. Here is a picture of the trailer, I am still getting the lid and tailgate finished up.

Going to keep the trailer and put the money towards some upgrades. Next year, once Iggy and the GFC have released and have some reviews in I may rethink my position. This will give me time to see if I would prefer to pull a trailer on the trail or not.
