Decided to practice welding tonight on my total chaos cam tab gussets. I was gonna have someone else do it, but then why the hell did I buy a welder anyways?! They’re not pretty but they seem strong enough. Two out of eight completed.

 They’d take forever and a day! I kept tripping the power strip and tripped my house circuit breaker once.

Nothing better than fabbing our own! Your beads seems to be good! To be sure, you could get a hammer and hit the welded part. If it falls off, the weld is not good, if it bends, its good:rofl:Of course I am not a pro, but it may look like the bottom of your welds need more fusion. How thick is the steel? Maybe turn up the heat a little more?
do you have a 20 amp plug for it ?

That’s what mobtown joe was saying! Clean the steel better, slower wire speed, higher amps and go slower. Only thing is I can’t really go higher amperage because I just checked and it’s only a 15 amp circuit.

Shhhh, I was wonder when someone would notice. It’s some angle iron in a vise, and was using vise grips to hold the metal to it.

What's the cut sheet on the welder say? Maybe time for you to get into some electrical work! I can walk you through it.

Wait a sec. Is this in your garage? I don't know for sure and would have to look in my code book, but I thought all garage circuits had to be 20amp.

I like to keep things interesting. To make the stakes higher, it’s on a wooden work bench :D

After talking with Joe and him recommending higher amperage (that I can’t provide) I decided to ask him to weld them up, to which he has no problem with. Gonna do them for me when I go to pick up the bumper!

Oh I never mentioned this, but I’m now a mobtown ambassador and will also be getting the large mobtown decals on my bedsides, so that’s like 5 EAF points! Pretty excited about that.

I knew you had to weld them to the frame, but I didn't realize you had to assemble them too!

Your welds look good though!!! I need to do my CMC and probably these when I rehab my front end.

It was on the table, of course. I walked back upstairs just to grab it! I’m not about to burn my house down. You can see it back here behind the red box.
