So I had a neighbor "help" me wore my light bar. He came recommend from others I know for doing good ele work. Anyways my tail lights and lights surrounding the radio and climate control panel no longer work. I've checked fuses and they are good. Any tips on what to inspect next? Pic shows where he put a ground wire in my fuse box trying to make the switch for the bar only light up when the ignition is on.

likely popped a fuse for that relays circuit. Take a pic of the underside of the fuse cover box for your rig

Why is your ALT fuse missing? Top left corner above the white fuse. Should be a 120 amp or 140 amp with towing package.

Also, did you check all the fuses under the dash next to your left knee as well?

Top Fuse is 100amp for non tow package, lower fuse which he has is the 120/140 amp.

Here's a pinout for the relay position in question. And a PDF of the entire circuit Towing/Tail, provided his matches.

I'd double check the interior fuse panel as well. Fuses for both of your non-functioning lights should be in the cab. Start there.

This that and the other thing.
could always remove the ground wire he put in and see if everything works fine? did he just get power from the battery or did he tap into any wires?I I would start with checking fuses behind the dash like others have stated.

Already checked all fuses inside cab and under hood. Also removed everything from light install. Still no tail lights or acc lights...

I did a voltage test on the pin where he inserted the ground wire and I'm only getting 7...the rest around it are all 12. Is that normal for that pin or is it possibly getting grounded out and creating the problem?

How did you check the fuses? Visually or did you use a meter? You can't always tell with your eyes. Get a meter for positive proof they are good.

First off the location he connected the ground wire is not a ground location. See the image below. Where he connected to is pin # 1 of the Towing Tail Relay which goes to the body ECU and then on to the combination switch for the headlights etc and then to ground. Not a good choice IMO.

He should have connected to any white wire with a black stripe or even directly to the chassis. If you only want the lights when the ignition is on, he should have tapped a circuit for the hot wire that is only on when running. Such as IG1 or IG1 NO2 fuses.

Oh, You need to find another electrician.

I checked visually by pull each one out. I will def check with a meter now that you mention it. And yes, I will not be having him help me with any more electrical work.

How can I check if the relay is bad? Sorry if that is a dumb question...I'm a novice at electrical stuff.

As is most of the time in life, I learn from the hard knocks method. Lol

Tail lights, parking lights, and some interior lighting all goes through one fuse in the cab. I forget which one but I blew it before.

The fuse you are talking about is the Tail Fuse 10 Ampere fuse to the left of the steering wheel behind the pull out tray.

    Check it first.

Checked fuses with multimeter. Not getting any voltage to tail fuse in cab, Ac fuse under hood and the 1st (2) 10amp fuses for headlights... any ideas what would cause that? Is the relay bad? If where is it?
