Has anyone else having this issue. I’m in southern Alberta and we get a lot of cold light blowing snow. I have been having an issue with defrost not keeping up when floor heat is on. Today it popped back into my head that my 05 did this and it turned out the cab filter was plugged up so I pulled it out and all was good. This was after 175000km. My 17 has only 15000km so I wasn’t thinking filter already but with such a lack of airflow I figured I would check. This is what I found. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue. 587271FC-5F21-4741-AA67-F9E2F85F1983.jpg

That's like suggesting to light the truck on fire to defrost it faster.

Can't even wrap my head around that....snow and leaves made it all the way through the screen and collected on top of the filter? What happens when it rains?

No. Please no. We have enough winter visitors now.

And our filters get leaves and pollen in them. Year around. So they clog up too. :p

My 05 would get leaves but the snow isn’t right. That was fresh snow from last night. We got about 2” at -20c and some wind and it drifted right in there.

This that and the other thing.
    :oops::canada:

now, maybe you can try something like this

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/made-a-pre-cabin-air-filter.89878/

or you can even try screwing some window screen over the hole instead, I saw a thread about it, but couldn't find it, that's actually how I came across the thread I linked hahaha

2005+ Tacomas have had this issue for years, 4runners even have TSBs for this. Sucks its still happening to you (I'm in Calgary but have a garage haha)

First real fix is take it to the dealer and have them open a case file.

Ya my 05 would get the leaves and debris but never the snow. I’m west of Brooks and it’s been cold and snowy this winter and it has been an ongoing issue with defrost but today was by far the worst. I bought it at south point and will be calling them tomorrow morning to start a file on it.

Hey Op, I'm late to the party, but I had mine into the dealer for over a week because every-time I went through a carwash it soaked my cabin filter and rendered my HVAC system useless until it dried out. Turned out, there was a faulty Cowl cover of sorts and the dealer replaced it. Haven't gotten anything in my cabin filter since. With that much snow in there, you have to have a gap someplace in the cowling.

I check those filters twice a year and change them at least once a year on my Yotas. Nothing wrong, but there seems to always be some leaves or filth on there.

Never have seen anything like you have there, best look around the passanger's side firewall for anything that looks out of place like a gap of some sort and then take it to the stealership and hope they can find the problem.

    Best of luck
    Cheers!

You do know the cabin filter was not designed as a dual purpose snow shovel right?

I’ve looked over it and can’t seem to find anywhere it can come through. The dealership can deal with it. Cheers!!
