Thanks man! Who knows when I’ll get around to this as I have a ton of other things on the list higher than a cb. But since it’s cheaper than about anything else I want to do soon I may do it this spring.

Both posts is how I installed mine. I got the Cobra 19 DX IV where the ashtray used to be and the MIC where the factory clock would have been.

Well, here is an option for the OP or anyone else... Btw, it has NOAA channels as well:
    Midland 75-822

It can be used as a handheld as well, assuming you keep the antenna and batt compartment in the glovebox or somewhere within the vehicle. I have this radio and it works great!!!

I'd love to do what arifleman did. I tried to see if it would fit and decided that it wasn't worth the cutting and cramming. So I used some 30lb 3M tape and some self tapping screws to hold it up on the glove box. Been there for over a year and not one sign of loosening up. I have a CBI antenna mount and a cable run through the firewall grommet.

Edit: Get one with weather if you want to. I've used it more than the actual CB to talk to people. Here in TX it's nice to have access to during tornado/hail season, if you are driving.

Thanks! They are indeed the 1st gen mats. Original to the truck, they do fit great and have held up over 14 years with no issues. Carpet looks brand new in this truck after 192k.

I added that section of work bench this past fall. It goes right several feet then to the right 90 degrees for 8 feet of more bench and a second vise.

(Power Wheels don't make a Tacoma...We settled on the GMC for the kids, as I couldn't allow a Jeep in the garage.)

I really like the way you did that CB too. Did you have to cut the bezel around the double DIN slots?

Routed my antenna wires, which are mounted to the toolbox, along the inside of the chassis and up through the passenger side firewall, under the dash to the ash tray area.

No, did not cut the bezel. Here is a higher definition picture, complete with smudges and dog hair, but you can see the radio and CB are simply stacked and inset into the opening. The Kenwood unit came with a surround bezel but the CB did not so I used none. Because the units and surround are black it works and looks nice. The real trick was measuring a half dozen times in order to get the radios aligned in the factory bracket and flush mounted.

IIRC, the Cobra 18 model that I bought was designed to fit standard single din openings, unlike many of the other CB units whose dimensions vary so if you want one to fit the din opening that is something to be aware of.

If I had it to do over again, I might opt for the small CB that fits the ashtray opening and use the double din for a modern radio/back-up camera. Getting more and more cars zooming through the parking lots anymore!

Your mats look nice - is that rubber ribbing? Mine (bought used) just came with the factory carpet mats. I added a set of WeatherTechs that are okay but would be more comfortable if they were real rubber ribbed. IMG_5669.jpg

I don't have a CB but I do have a scanner. Thought I'd add in my install location as another possibility for you. Mine's mounted under the steering wheel. Been there 8 years and never any ingress/egress trouble for this 6'1" guy.

BTW my antenna for the scanner is a 4db gain glassmount mounted on my shell's side glass. But this is not an app for your CB situation.

HAHAHA, you still have your tape deck too!!!:fistbump::cheers::D:p

Same exact setup. My MIC clip is next to the ign where the factory clock would be, but mine didn't come with one, so that is where I put it. It does suck sometimes though when starting the truck, but usually doesn't bother me.
