I have an access cab so I'm not sure if I could space bars out far enough to put a basket between them.

They are bad ass. I seriously debated one but I can't bring myself to drilling into my cab. Access cab problems.

Don’t like how high the basket is but for $150 off Craigslist I will take it.

I have the ditch mount track system like the one found here. After 3 years of use, no worries about paint or any other issues.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ditch-mounted-tracks-on-double-cabs.418816/

I'm second gen, but it appears the system is the same. Tool-less quick removal to swap accessories is what I'm after. After seeing the low profile basket ideas above, i think I'm heading in that direction in the near future.

My set up is the following:

Thule 50” bars with TH460 foot pack and TH3101 fit kit. The front has 58” bar with TH480 foot pack and TH1511 fit kit. The fairing is 8 1/2”.

The rack is a Rhino Rack XTray.

niice set up. if you dont like the height of the rhino rack on the crossbars I have this rhino rack waiting for spring to instal. but it has brackets to weld directly to the basket that attatches directly into the roof tracks. you can buy them from their website. downloadfile-18.jpgi was going to use my 2 thule crossbars for up front on the cab, with the basket in back like yours. i like the look of yours with the fairing in front. thanks for the info

edit** yours is rhino, mine is baja. sorry

Yeah that looks a lot better. I might have to see what I can come up with to lower the rack.

Reviving this awesome thread to see if anyone has a solution...bought my '15 DCLB with a Mid Rise shell with a rack on the shell with Yakima bars. I am looking to add a rack to the cab in order to level things out to transport a canoe. Current setup is shown here with the Yaks in place but need to have support over the cab. Potential is to add a rail system to the cab and move/install Yakima racks on the cab and create a shorter solution on the shell. Second option I've considered is getting a Frontrunner/Prerunner basket up front and mounting some cross bars off that to level with the Yakima rack in back.

There seem to be a lot of potential avenues to head, but I haven't found a thread better than this one to answer my conundrum.

Just the kind of solution I was looking for... Although I'd prefer the racks to level out for carrying the canoe... Maybe if I finagle a way to reverse this they'd be more in line.
