Right, it's definitely a starting point, but you seem to be ignoring my latter point, which is that members don't have to use a search, particularly for opinion questions, if they don't want to.......

Evidently we're not gonna reach a consensus here and this thread is totally derailed. I will say the post about headstrong offroad's offering was immensely helpful for me and it would have taken me an inefficient time trying to reach similar results as opposed to just ASKING........

You're saying I, EatSleepTacos, is single handedly making this guy leave? Please reread the thread, see what I posted, and come back.

Edit: after rereading the thread, I'm actually pretty impressed with how well it went. OP got plenty of viable answers, with a couple members joking around. It wasn't until you chimed in saying to stop acting like children that things really went off the rails.

I am saying that yourself and others derailing legitimate advice threads when somebody is simply asking "plz halp" is making people want to leave the website yes.

He got minimal advice. He got 2-3 recommendations total. Hi guys took the convo off topic and I tried to steer it back, thus causing you to further act like Children. Behavior which is currently evident.

Here's just some helpful posts I got off the very first page. I was going to keep going, but then I'd be quoting 90% of this thread. Don't like the BS? Get over it.

I'd like to put a 3" lift kit on my stock 2009 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4. I'm not looking to spend a fortune, but I'd like to get a dependable package that will allow me to put on larger tires for off roading, while still allowing me to use the vehicle as my daily driver. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm in the same boat with my 2015 TRD.

The best info I got was from Marie at HeadStrong Offroad, she's the guru on all things lifty and was super helpful.

I didn't want to destroy the ride on my $30k truck, as others probably don't, so being inquisitive about options is going to happen. I have lived the horror stories with my 79' Scout suspension. I personally spent a few days sifting through the threads looking for 2nd gen DCLB lift-specific info and opinions on brands/rides. PMed a few people to ask what they had on their trucks and how they rode after seeing photos and got no responses. Everyone has their preferences, everyone uses their trucks differently, and everyone has different configurations.

I had a 2.5" lift and Bilstein 5100s on my '12 Wrangler and will probably do the same to the Taco, they're good for daily commutes and very light off-roading. I put 40k miles on them with no issues. (the 2dr wrangler weighed a lot less than my DCLB Taco, take it with a grain of salt).

My other advice from personal experience: 'buy once, cry once'. I cheaped out on the Jeep and ended up doing a bump-lift, returning to stock, and putting a full proper lift in because it rode like the flinstone-mobile. 3 days crawling under my vehicle and an extra $500 when I could've just done it right the first time. :frusty:

If it helps I'll post the mods and my opinion on the ride quality when it's done. Have to wait until the snow is gone though, too cold to work outside and if I lift the truck in the garage I won't be able to get the damn thing out.. Modifying for taller doors in the spring. 1st-world problems.
