I disassembled my door lock actuator to clean the motors. and apparently I didn't put something back together right. My door is stuck shut how can I open it manually?

If you have the door panel still off... Go into the truck from the other door and reach in with your hand and actuate the door release mechanism.

You probably left the door lock mechanism bar in a blinded position and the door handle bar isn't locked into place with the plastic keeper. You will need to get to the lever inside the door and force the actuator to unlock and then just simply slide the handle lever.

If I were there I could show you within 5 minutes...:p

I'm assuming you know what the actuator looks like since you had it apart. There is a part on the exterior of the actuator that, when pressed down, releases the door. You should have inserted the vertical rod within the door into this piece, that's what allows the outside handle to open the latch. If that doesn't work, you're going to need to open the little flip down piece where you originally had 2 cables inserted. You'll likely need a 90 degree pick to do this but insert the pick and pull the actuator like the interior handle would have done.

Thanks Pugga! This was the trick. There's even a plastic guide to help stab the rod while installing. Don't fear if you break the guide, like I did, it still works after.

If you're like me and have a 2010 Tacoma with 3 out of 4 door actuator motors that need to be replaced please know this. The front and back doors are different repair jobs. Removal and install are different, but I have saved $478 a door by replacing the motors myself.

I've never cleaned a door lock actuator motor before in my life. Reason behind this?
