    Hey TW!

I am considering buying a 2018 Tacoma TRD. It says it will pull 6500 lbs. My trailer is 32 Feet long and weight 4900 dry. I never load it with water since I use campgrounds. In your opinions and hoping someone is actually using one to tow same amount, will the Tacoma be sufficient?

2 Adults and 2 kids in the truck at time of towing.

    Thanks for replying :)

4900 + 4 people 500lb=5400 leave you less than a 1000lbs for extra gear, what ever is stored in the camper. I have pulled 6000 lbs with mine I would not want to do it very far. The truck is capable but 32ft trailer cause a lot of drag. If it was me I would look bigger.

You may have better lucky in the towing section of the forums too.

But serious....a 32 ft trailer with anything less than a 1/2 ton is pure silliness.

In addition to what was said above, you also have to consider payload. There are at least two different factors to consider when towing. First, towing capacity. But also payload. Assuming you've got a double cab, you will only have 1k lbs of payload. At least half of that is eaten up by the trailer (tongue weight should be 10% - 15%). The rest may be passenger and cargo. It seems like you'd be way over.

I whole-heartedly agree with pjensen. Do yourself a favor and get at least a 1/2 ton with a decent payload. Especially if you will be towing often.

A decent wind will blow you off the road when it catches that 32 ft sail.

Great feedback guys. Always owned Acura cars, new to this truck thing. It's a tough call in the sense that I will only tow 10 or so times per year, but looks like the Tundra would be better choice overall :)

Our 19ft is 4200lbs loaded. I would not want another 13ft and 1000lbs on there.

A lot of people forget about the 1,000 lbs payload and that you need to include passengers in that before taking into account tongue weight.
