I reached out to Slater on ATX Tacomas FB Group... he will create an invite for them. I also mentioned folks wanted to go on a run after. There is minimal fun outside of bastrop in the East side of Austin.... its flat and boring. @Texoma is right in that the west of the city is where the good trails are.

There is the abandoned subdivision that the ATX Tacomas group goes to in Bastrop. I went and checked it out Sunday, and there was quite a bit of Elevation change, as well as tons of off camber stuff, and I didn't even get to explore half of it.

The only worry I have, I'm not sure about the claims that it is public property. Slater had claimed in a few posts that he had double checked, but I'm not sure how and who with.

Google map Winding Pine Dr in Bastrop, it will show as a neighborhood, but as you go to the satellite view, you will notice its all dirt roads and not paved.

Seems that it will be blocked off and monitored closely within the near future.

That looks private. Any construction like that is owned by the builder/developer.

Yeah, hence my concern. Had a blast in the hour I was out there. Several of those "streets" cross lots of creeks and gullies, so lots of chances to have some fun. It was muddy in quite a few places, so that may have aided in the fun, not sure the difficulty level if it were all dry, but definitely the best area I have done outside Hidden Falls.

That developer is probably long gone... bankrupt i bet. It would be cool to find out. There isnt a single sign on that property at all.

What I thought as well. However, they claim to have "checked" on the FB group, and supposedly the project failed after the city took possession of the streets. But I'm still quite skeptical.

And multiple inlets and outlets where dirt just turns to pavement. Those dirt roads were definitely laid out to eventually be continuations of current city streets

Which I think would make the streets public :) At least that is what I am going with. Those streets are in all the maps online

Well, then we'd be doing them a favor by driving those streets as a "pre-neighborhood watch."

Don't need any druggie deer or criminal raccoons causing trouble.

    Agreed.

I've seen the photos from a few who have been. Definitely looks like fun, just not worth the risk to me.

I'm out. The state legislature won't add them to my hunting/fishing tag.

Depends on the map source. And just because roads are on a map, doesn't mean they are public. I can show you plenty of named roads out west that are in fact private owned roads.
