But why does taco outsell Colorado if that's the general consensus ???
The 3.5 beats the 4.0 in every area or ties except off the line.
I don't have a problem with it, tows 5000 with zero issues.
45 second difference in the tow test ! That's big.

I am glad that it outsells the Colorado, sounds like they like the general Flexibility of the old 4.0 versus just the foot to the floor high end power of the 3.5.

You don't need foot to the floor on the 3.5 to beat the 4.0 Taco in the tow test now do you if its coming in 45 seconds faster ? It can back off while the 4.0 screams.
4.0 is the one with foot to the floor. You can back off on the 3.5 to tie the 2nd best gen.
Do you think either one is not flooring it in that test, come on.:annoyed:

I think the Taco is still living on it's past reputation. I'm not sure it still meets that past standard for reliability and many people, including me prefer driving the Colorado over the Taco. There are a lot of people outside this forum making the switch from a Taco to one of the twins, so I expect the gap will continue to narrow.

I've heard this time and time again over the years, and guess what, its always Chevy is better this time around.
So why visit Taco forum if you drive a Chity ?
Lexus engine not good enough ?
I'll take that all day long over a Chity.

True but if your vehicle is worth enough, the amount you'll save in trade taxes can make up for it. :)

Took one for a test drive a couple of weeks ago, right after driving a 17 Taco. I know most people on here are loyal to the nameplate, but in all honesty, the Chevy was a lot smoother and quicker, and 4 way power seats made the driving position a lot more comfortable, even for a short guy like me.
I know people here love Taco's and I'm not trying to piss on that. I was just responding to the question about why they sell more Tacos. I get the sense that gap is closing. Doesn't mean I hate my Taco or yours.

Understandable. I had a 370z, never paid to fix it but went to the dealership 11 times to get something replaced. Even though they were all resolved it was a shitty feeling knowing I paid so much money only to have to keep going back to get things fixed. Ended up selling it.

Enjoy the tundra! They’re awesome trucks.

When he was talking about the Flexibility of the 4.0, I don't necessarly think he was speaking of the tow test, sounds like he was referring to day to day use where the low RPM grunt would be more useful.

Don’t even respond to that guy. He is just incessantly responding negatively to anyone who doesn’t share his opinion.

I agree. I have a diesel colorado z71 4x4. It is more comfortable and it noe has over 50k miles. Been good truck. I will say I still like the styling and looks better on the taco inside and out. I am looking at trading and getting the 18 taco in cement off road. I will say I wish I could keep the seat comfort and engine trans and get the taco looks and interior. I drive a lot as u can see. As my order was messed up now I'm waiting and they don't even have allotment still on new taco. May keep keep.what I got now and just wait another year. Will see but when it shows will see. Best case Feb

My eyes glazed super fast on this one. Wow, I don't think there's enough Adderall to get me through this boring ass thread.

Did someone at least make the obligatory "THREAD REDIRECTED TO TUNDRAWORLD.COM" joke?

I drive my trucks to the bitter end and would buy any brand if it had what I wanted when purchased. I've always liked the reliability of the taco but wasn't going to get one until first, they moved the wheel well out of the foot well, and second, they made the AC. Looked at the Colorado but the diesel option isn't available on base models, stupid fucks will make a hybrid Escalade but not an affordable efficient small truck. My first truck was an '89 4x4 2.9L 5M Ranger. Good truck and the only one I bought new. Best mileage was 25mpg with the cap and bed stuffed to the gills on a long haul to Montana but most tanks were 18-20. The second was the '99 4x4 4.0L Automatic Ranger bought used in part because I could save additional $ keeping the same cap and lumber racks that still fit the model after 10 years. Best mileage was ~20mpg but most tanks were 16-18mpg. Now I own a '14 2.7L 5M AC bought last year that so far topped out at 26Mpg and has yet to fall below 21. Lots of hills and traffic which both kill mileage but the other trucks lived in the same place. Those times when I bought a truck I looked at what was available and made my choice, brand considerations were kept on a practical level. Mileage isn't the only consideration but I don't need the 4X4 option anymore. So far I've no regrets.
