Paid $18,500.00 for my 2003 Tacoma brand new. Got rear ended and totaled and got a check for $10,600 three months ago. Not bad, I paid around $8,000 for a truck that lasted just short of 15 years and only changed the fluids! Love these trucks. Also we bought back on salvage for $800.00 and ol' greeny should be back in action in a few weeks.

Well, ford f150s dont cut it and raptors only tow 1500 more lbs than a tacoma. That's garbage for the amount of money you spend.

It’s not about the amount the Tacoma can haul, it’s how terrible it does at hauling it. My travel trailer is 4400lbs and the Tacoma has to be in 3rd gear to tow it on anything other than a smooth flat surface with no wind.

My trailer behind a F150 or Raptor would be MUCH better. I also like the Ecoboost and the Raptor is just a badass machine.

I totally understand where you are coming from not trying to argue at all. Ive owned 1500 trucks for towing and my Ram 2500 was by far my favorite. My pontoon boat is 5500 lbs dry before I put all my stuff on it and I wouldn't tow it with my tacoma. Most my tacoma will pull is a popup camper and 14' jon boat.

This is a very valid post. Just because certain vehicles state you CAN tow xxxx lbs doesn’t mean it’ll do it well, it just means it’s rated to safely do it with proper control and braking.

The F150 Raptor towed my 6000 lb travel trailer like a dream. The power is there, the transmission stayed cool, and zero issues keeping it level using a weight distribution hitch

Very similar to me - seemed like a no brainer. On the flip side, a few grand is a few grand to a lot of people.

When I was waiting for mine during its first service, a young lady asked me if I'd update my information in their system. When she pulled up my truck, which I think I may have made 4 payments on, she said I already have equity in it. Crazy.

A raptor is for desert bombing. Not towing, although I’ve towed my boat numerous times with one.

When I bought my 2017 I was looking for a 2015 certified used Tacoma. There was one available, with 15k on it. Only $1000 less than brand-spankin'-new!

that 20% drop happened as soon as you drove it off the lot man. It's the hit all vehicles take. As someone who has bought and sold new cars several times over the years, it takes 2-3 years minimum to make it a valid financial decision.. But if the towing capacity is worth that to you then

Yeah, I know thats why I said they dont cut it for towing. Same as a regular f150.

How is a regular f150 not cut out for towing? 11k pound tow rating.... if you need to tow anything else get a 3/4 ton...

Im not seeing 11k for a 1500 truck anywhere. 5 to 8k is barely adequate. Heck my 1500 had a hard time pulling a loaded 4x8 enclosed teailer through the mountains and it was rated for 7500 and it had 4500 in it tops.

..... I’ve towed a 7k pound boat with my F150 thousands of miles. Didn’t have a hard time.

That also says an F350 can only tow 13k, which I think the 350 is closer to 20k.

Absolutely no chance I’m towing anything over 10k with any half ton. Which is why I ended up buying an F250.
