I'm looking to armor up my 2016 DCSB with a full set of skids, but was wondering if my Fumoto 103N will get in the way? And if you go with aluminum, has anybody noticed a difference in MPG? I was curious if the better aerodynamics on the underside offset the weight.

I have a 103S but there's so much room that an N shouldn't have any issues whatsoever. I might have a picture around here somewhere...

Thank you, I appreciate the quick reply. Do you know if anyone has kept the hose attached through the skid hole, so you don't have to take the skid off to change the oil?

If you really "need" and "use" the skids I would worry about running something into Fumoto.

I suppose I should have been more clear in the original post. I mean is there enough clearance where the fumoto shouldn't be an issue. If it is, then I can stick with the standard plug. Obviously I don't want to strand myself because of a small convenience item.

Absolutely should be enough clearance. There is no question in my mind that even with "only" an aluminum skid I am not going to endanger the oil in my pan. If you have compromised the skid enough that you would need to worry about the fumoto getting sheared off, let's just say you're in a world of hurt and are using an aluminum skid the way you should use a 1/4" steel skid.

I don't even bother with a hose, on the pelfreybilt skid its aim is good enough that I just pop the valve open and boom, no fuss goes straight into your awaiting container. Pees right through the hole in a very controlled stream.

Oh BTW I found the picture I took but you can't see crap to make a reasonable judgement.

The level of the skid itself is underneath that crossmember in the foreground. I would wager I could fit my fist between the skid and the valve.
I may take another one later but it would require me to crawl under there. Actually, it's also worth pointing out that I have the 4 banger but I was under the impression the oil pans are very similar.

No no, don't bother crawling under just for the pic. That is exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you!

I use the nipple and it fits great. It’s still recessed under the skid. I have a 2013.

@PoweredBySoy How do you activate the valve with the skid still on? Do you reach from the side of the skid and open the valve?

I am running the 103N Fumoto Valve with BAMF skids. There is a good inch or so above the skid clearance between valve and skid. Plenty of room. If you have some solid skids the Fumoto isnt going anywhere.

It is also pretty awesome if you run it with a tube like in the photo. Simple and clean.

Yep. As long as your skids hole is big enough. On the BAMF skids they are big enough. I was even able to remove and put back the black tab that prevents it from moving if you have it installed. Putting back on is a pain but I was able to do it without removing the skids.

Running the Pelfrey Aluminum skid and plenty of clearance with my Fumoto valve.

No, I just put a hose on the nipple and then reach up there with a finger to disengage the Fumoto lock. It's pretty easy to do.
