No more TRD Pro?

Guy at work said he spoke with the dealer who told him they're not making any more TRD Pro Tacomas or Tundras, only Pro 4runners. Anyone else heard this?

 

Let me guess.. the last PRO Toyota ever made HAPPENED to be on that dealers lot?

 

Toyota is supposed to make some announcement at the Chicago Auto Show on the 8th of Feb. All they did was tease a picture. You can read more about it here.

If they stop making them because of low sales it will be their dealers faults. In south east Toyota most charge 3-5 thousand over MSRP. Hard for many buyers to stomach that.

 

They are shifting production to the TRD “Amateur” as they figure there’s more of a market for that model.

Bigger lift, bigger tires, armour, locked front, V8. Basically just “point and shoot”, no real driving skill needed......2019 TRD Tacoma Amateur......stay tuned.

Not sure what to expect. Was hoping for some sort of upgrade on the 4runner but from zooming in on the picture all models appear to be exactly the same as current models. Tundra is rumoured years away from an actual refresh on the 10+ year old drivetrain. Maybe just a refreshed suspension for all Pro models.

 

They are going to discontinue the 4Runner and Tacoma and replace it with the 70 series so all our dreams will come true!!!!!

 

They're moving all production to MX and it's going to be the new Tacoma El Jeffe edition.

Oh, a $60k tacoma?

 

That would mean 12 less cup holders and a useable top speed of under 90kMh (55mph). That might be a tough sell in North America for approximately $75k, mainly due to the cup holders. I’d like to own one as a second vehicle.

 

My contacts at Toyota told me it will have a moonroof and jbl

I dunno......is diesel really all that great in a mid-size pickup? Even when it was an option on Toyota pickups back in the day, almost no one bought one. Same goes for the GM twins today. I think it looks good on paper, but most people would skip a diesel Tacoma
