    Browsing around on Facebook in the tacoma enthusiast group and came across a silver tacoma with the headlights color matched on the inside similar to BHLM. I pretty much know the drill, you back your headlights to seperate the outer shell and the inside housing. Then sand the housing down and paint it, let it dry, and use a type of silicone to reseal the outer shell to the housing. Is that pretty much on the right track here? I scored some free BHLM from a fellow member here and I just had to pay shipping from one state over so I got them at a deal that no idiot would refuse. So now I have the stock white headlights just in the garage collecting dust so I thought hell, why not try something new with them and see what happens? If it works the way I want it then freaking awesome. If not, I'm out however much money the paint and silicone cost and the time it takes until I screw up. So oh well. I can't do what I wanna do with my BHLM lights so these stock whites are my only shot. I've people color matching their inside housings, but I've never seen TIMBERLAND MICA color matched lights. There's got to be at least one out there. If not, let's hope I become the first one. Questions I have;

    1. Is the process I described correct and exactly do I do it. Like time frames on baking, waiting on paint to try, temperature in the oven. Etc.
    2. Where can I get the for sure 100 color matched timberland mica paint to do it? Oreillys, advance, AutoZone, all of them or none or where?
    3. What sandpaper will I need to he t the housing just right?
    4. Do I need some sort of spray primer to begin or cleas coat at the end
    5. What's the best silicone sealer?

    If you know ANYONE who has color matched timberland mica, please post a pic or direct me to them so I can see and or talk to them.

    Thanks in advance guys!

    Once you get the lights off the truck, remove all the little Phillips and torx screws, and any rubber grommets.

    Preheat oven to 300 degrees, then turn OFF, and let 1 light sit in there for ~10 minutes.

    Then with rubber gloves (it’ll be hot) take the headlight out and pry them open.

    Wait 10+ hours after finished painting so vapors can fully dry, as to not fog the lens when you put them back together.

    Same time and temp to get them back together, let cool, reinstall screws, then sealed with silicone.

    This worked perfectly on mine, was not very hard at all.

    Also Timberland Mica headlights would be SICK!

    I'm definately trying my luck at it. Like I said, if I happen to mess up, the only think I'm out in the paint and my time because I have 2 sets of headlights, the BHLM set on my truck was given to me free for paying 1 state over shipping and the other, well, self explanatory, they came on the truck haha

    I would love to make it work because not only are color matched housings rare, timberland mica is a rare Color! So I'll have a double rarity! I can't wait to get my hands dirty and see what happens.

    Also, the stock headlights that are off the truck that I'm using, aren't is the greatest shape. They'e a little fogged over(cannot get it off yet) and really just look pretty dingy. I' hoping that whenever I have the outer shell off I can take my time and really get them clean and make a really cool headlight out of it! Will post pics of the progress!
