Bought my ‘17 Tacoma a few months back and looking for a quality lift at the best value. I’m new to lifts in general and would really appreciate recommendations and the knowledge shared here.

I’m considering the 3” RC Suspension (adding front struts) for $500 but don’t like the idea of putting blocks on the rear.
    http://www.roughcountry.com/toyota-suspension-lift-kit-745c.html

Also considering a coil/Bilstein 5100s lift from Headstrong and adding a rear leaf for $640.
    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p440/Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_-_(HS05BK-1).html

I see many threads on the Bilstein 5100s and see that they’re adjustable with people running them on the 3rd and 4th notch. However, on the Headstrong site, they recommend keeping the shocks on the 0” or .85” setting (1st or 2nd) and choosing an OEM spring best suited for your trim and lift height.

Do some people only run Bilstein 5100s all around with no other additional components?

What spring is best? I was thinking the 887 since it gives the most lift.

Should I just suck it up and get the complete OME kit from Toytec for around $1200?

    Thanks in advance.

You can adjust the 5100s to the 3rd or 4th setting, the issue is that doing so will stiffen your ride considerably. Using the right length springs for the height you want is ideal, it will give you a much better ride.

Avoid blocks and spacers like the plague unless you want a crappy ride also...those lifts are cheap for a reason. 5100s with OME springs and an AAL in the rear is a very affordable, quality suspension lift setup. Many people here have gone that route.

    Thanks man.

I guess keeping them on the first or second notch would be ideal. What spring would you recommend? 887?

How much lift could I expect to get from this lift with the above set up?

Since you have a 3rd gen you should probably go with 888. After settling most 2ndgen trucks are lucky to get 2.5" lift from 887's.

Juforrest, it looks like Headstrong only has options of 83, 84, 85, and 87.

Like most things, the more you're willing to pay to more you're going to get out of it...the Toytec setup is a great brand and will probably ride even better than 5100/OME's, but at a higher cost. If you can afford to do it, I would

Send Marie an email or call on Monday. Also if you put the @ sign in front of the user name it will send the person an alert.

@HeadStrong Off-Road has the best prices with free shipping. Just about everyone else makes go looking for a discount. The standard toytec lift is just rebranded 5100's with their "special" top plate.

@eon_blue @Juforrest Do you think my best bet would be the Headstrong package with Bilsteins on second notch (.85”) and 888 springs with single rear leaf?

I would go with 0 setting at first. Let everything break in and settle. You don't really want max everything out without, it's hard on components.

@Juforrest I appreciate it. I’ll contact them Monday. This package seems like a solid option overall.

It is, it's a really good entry level setup and will ride nice.
