CV Axle keeps breaking

And always have a spare on hand, apparently.

 

Yea, I’m probably gonna have to wait. I’ve spent all my money on that one .

Is your truck an auto or manual? If it’s manual you could try putting it in first with the gas pedal floored then dump the clutch as fast as you can. That transfers more of the stress to the rear driveshaft which is bigger and stronger than the front cv shafts

2 things:

1st- Anything will break when subjected with enough of a shock load. Spinning tires catching traction suddenly and snapping an axle is pretty old news when talking about cars/trucks.

2nd- Lifted trucks with steep angles on CV axles can be more prone to breaking CVs due to binding of the CV joint. A friend was having similar problems when driving in the sand dunes. He finally figured out he was breaking the CVs when the truck started to bounce. He put limiting straps on his front suspension to keep the CVs from binding when the suspension dropped down too far. Problem solved in his case. He had a fullsize Chevy.

 

Update: the engine is dead and the truck is getting traded in for a RAM .

I'm wondering the same thing. MAYBE he put in new, stronger CVs and he floored it in 4WD, but his engine couldn't handle the traction and just 'sploded

 

Good thing you can't break a RAM. Oh wait, ask two of my friends who have blown two 5.7L Hemi engines with less than 100k miles on them. Buy an extended warranty!

 

He had his foot hard down in neutral and threw it into drive while having it in 4lo

I'm using this for every diagnosis possible. Blinker not working, drop the clutch. Maint Rqd light on and what does it mean, drop the clutch.
