I got tired of the mirror making a cracking sound every time I adjusted it or went over a bump. Removed it, opened it up, padded, assembled, reinstalled.

Removal is simple. Unplug power supply, shorten cosmetic wire cover and remove, loosen torx screw and slide off bracket.

The front bezel snaps inside the rear cover. You will definitely want to use a trim removal tool and some patience. The plastic will likely get damaged if you use a screwdriver or try to force it. Note the pictures so you are leveraging the right part in the right direction. Basically you want to insert the tool straight down and then direct it deeper into the case, lifting the tab up and off of the bezel. Starting at a corner works better, I suggest one on the passenger side in case there is any damage. Click the pics for larger version.

There are some alignment posts at the bottom that may get in the way a little.

I used tesa tape to wrap the bezel edge, made slices for the tab holes, and trimmed it down. Note the cutout by the alignment posts.

Start reassembly at one end, making sure the tape stays flat and does not pinch-up. Walking the trim tool around the edge to lift the case as you go will help.

    Done and ready for reinstall.

Hi, I apologize for replying to a year old thread, but I just wanted to thank you for your post. I have my mirror from my Tundra easily disassembled thanks to your detailed instructions and images. I decided to take it apart because it makes a rattling or buzzing sound when my subwoofer makes it vibrate. I'm hoping your tape solution will eliminate my noise as it did yours. Just ordered the tape from Amazon via the link in your post, so thanks for that as well!

Cool, I hope it takes care of the problem! I have not had an issue with it since.
