We went a little overboard with the Superbowl food. This is for a family of four .LOL .But we had fun making everything, and lunches are taken care of for a few days.

    Hey you foodies!

Getting ready to buy/replace the kitchen knives we lost in the fire.

Any brands in particular that you’re exceptionally fond of? I don’t think I want to buy a pre-determined set, as I don’t think I’ll use them all.

Victorinox. Great bang for the buck, if that's a thing at all for you.

I like my Chicago Cutlery. But, they are 35 years old so no idea of the current quality. I love me some walnut handles tho.

Yes I want quality, I know that comes at a price. But I’m also not a career chef, just a decent cook.

If I were to buy knives again, i would probably look for something like the Victorinox, JA henkles, or Whustof. I would also not buy as many knives. I really only need a large chef knife, a paring knife, bread knife and then maybe a carving knife.

That’s the me-made set I’m thinking too. Just the ones I use. (And a set of steak knives, but I’ve already bought those).

For Chefs knife, would you get a 6” or 8” blade?

i personally would go with the 8", but i'm a larger individual with big hands so it just fits me better.

I've got a 10" chef and a full set of Santoku knives - they chop just about everything.

Mine is a 10 inch. It's a little big. I have always wanted a 6 inch, just never got one. My wife bought me these knives years ago, and she bought the biggest and longest they had. Wishful thinking or worship? ;)
I also bought a Work Sharp last fall. Best 70 bucks I ever spent! So easy even a cave man can do it, and nearly impossible to f up. And knives are razor sharp.
