Exactly what plugs come from factory on 2nd gen 4.0’s? How often to change them?

From the factory they come with copper plugs. Toyota uses 3 densos and 3 NGK so thats one way to tell if the plugs have ever been changed before. They recommend changing the copper ones every 30k

Heres the part number for the ones i used in my 4.0

There were 6 denso’s in mine when i changed them. Don’t seem to be having any issue with the iridium. Only reason I put these is for longer life.

Only thing I’ve been noticing which I’m not saying it’s a problem because it’s been really cold and rainy the past few days but I noticed that a lot of condensation burning off in the tail pipe. When I changed the spark plugs the old ones were tannish brownish tip and no Sign of oil or any sign of moisture on the plugs. Having also change the air filter to a K&N knock off drop in not sure that’s changed anything. I did unplug my battery for a little while. Once my truck warms up after about 10 minutes or so the condensation log seems to go away. My question or concern is Could the new spark plugs or air filter cause more condensation to be exhausted?

Thanks but I’ve already changed them. I was told that NGK iridium would be fine. I’m pretty sure if they sell them as recommended for this vehicle that they should be fine. I’m disappointed tho bc I spent about $25 too much total. Hopefully I’m not damaging it by running a better plug so to speak.

Replaced these 2 weeks ago on my Taco 4.0 . Plugs had 101,050 miles and truck was running well with them. Had to replace because the ground electrodes were starting to wear down. Replaced with Denso Long Life Iridiums. NGK and Denso are partially owned by Toyota; so, if our trucks show on NGK and Denso application guides, then Toyota endorses Iridiums for our trucks. That's how I look at it. Besides I just put 101K miles on these NGKs with no issues. I did pull them out at 80 to re-gap and inspect. Note to self ... pull and inspect at 60K next time.

$25 in parts & 30-45 minutes. Next time I wouldn't let them go that long. The electrodes are toast!

@MolonLabeTaco Denso's should last as long or longer; they have a hardened ground electrode. But I tell you, I perceived no performance difference between the used NGKs and the new Denso's. Iridiums are the way to go if your engine is healthy and not burning oil.

Just changed my plugs on the 4.0 for the first time today. It was actually easy to do, everything went well. Had densos in it but being I just purchased the truck I don't know how long they were in it? I know they came out hard with the ratchet! Anti seized all of them. Around $25 shipped on eBay for new densos.

What denso plugs are you using for a 2014 6-cylinder. The plug from the picture said it would not fit my truck.
