At first I thought that I may have screwed up in purchasing mine. Steering, shifting, power etc. Now at 8600 miles I love it. Just takes a while for all the fancy computer stuff to straighten out. IMHO. I also had to adapt.

Do I love my Tacoma? No. Mine runs exactly the way it's supposed to, I'm just not a huge fan of the way it has been designed. That doesn't mean I hate my truck, I think it's ok. There's really no sense on complaining, it won't change the truck. Probably later this year I'll look into getting a Tundra (I want to get one before Toyota changes the engine/transmission) or even a full size from another manufacturer. In the meantime, my Tacoma is effective in getting me from one place to another. And it is a really nice looking truck, if nothing else.

I have a 16 DCSB 4x4 OR with 12k. This is my 4th Tacoma. I don't hate it but I have some gripes.

    1. Rear drums warped and replaced at 7k
    2. Delay when shifting from R to D fixed with trans cal update.
    3. Squeaking leaf springs. (haven't taken in to get fixed yet)
    4. Drum brakes! WTF?
    5. No power seat, no up and down adjustment.
    6. Chrome grill on the TRD OR. Whose idea was that?
    7. No handle lock/unlock on passenger's side door. PITA when trying to put stuff in the passenger side.
    8. Tailgate lock isn't powered. I got a separate key for that? Why? The camera is right next to it so power is already there.
    9. No leather option for the OR.
    10. No auto headlights.
    11. 16" wheels on the OR instead of 17." I kinda understand this but it is annoying.
    12. NO FRONT LOCKER!
    13. No TRD supercharger.
    14. No sunglasses holder.
    15. Power sliding rear window would be nice.
    16. I got a camera connection protector in a bag that I'm supposed to install myself.....

It feels like the cost savings bean counters took advantage of the Tacoma reputation and tried to increase profits.

I don't like the shifting either, but I'm averaging 24 MPG and don't want to do anything that may result in the 18mpg I got with my 2013.

    Love mine! :woot:

P.S. had to change my vote after I saw the title: Anyone else disappointed in Gen3? Voted NO

Then noticed the vote question was: Do you like the 3.5 with Auto trans? Changed my vote to YES
