    Hi All,

Looking for muffler "upgrade" recommendations. Something with a bit more "grrrrr baby" sound than the stock muffler.
    Thanks,
    Andy

I’ll never run any other muffler again.

I did a muffler only system last month using a Black widow venom 250 muffler. http://www.blackwidowexhaust.com/mu...nter-SKU-BW001-C/p/35648298/category=15730041 They are worth looking into.

I previously had a flowmaster series 50 muffler 1in/2out running split exhaust that came out of the back of the truck. I loved that system and the sound but it rusted and I needed to make another exhaust. I got my exhaust built earlier this month using a Black widow 2.5" Venom 250 muffler and i already have a aFe Stage-2 Si Pro 5R Cold Air Intake System Dry filter installed.

I really like the sound of the Venom 250 on my truck. The initial firing up sound is aggressive and loud enough but doesn't scare small children. It was 11F this morning while starting the truck in the video. With that said, your neighbors will definitely know when you have started your truck because the exhaust note travels inside the house easily. Just under normal idle while sitting at a light or in a drive through you wont notice it to much, but once you get on the throttle you and everyone around you will hear it. Getting onto the highway or passing anyone puts a smile on my face each and every time.

The biggest thing that I noticed with this muffler compared to the last system that was on my truck is how much "quieter" the Black widow muffler sounds inside the cab compared to outside the truck, It doesn't sound annoying or overly loud. It has some hum at 1500 rpm, so going 35 down the road you might have a little hum but not annoying drone. At 2k RPM while doing 70mph the exhaust is comfortably quiet and easy to drive, but once you bring the motor up to 3200 RPM she stops sounding like a Tacoma and makes me smile. The company Black widow is worth looking into to for sure.

Excellent!!! Thank you. This is the sound I'm looking for. Many thanks for posting the video.

    Was it difficult to install?

Thanks I'm glad you like it. I can't say whether or not it was difficult or not since I had an exhaust shop do the job for me. I also had to get a lot more work done because my exhaust had rusted all the way to the factory mid pipe. The dumbass before me made the custom exhaust out of aluminized steel instead of stainless. So I had all new pipe bent and run with the muffler to make my own catback.

The whole ideas of just cutting out the factory muffler and then welding a blackwidow in place isn't a hard job and any shop should be able to do it within an hour probably.

Do me a favor and tell whatever exhaust shop you have do the build to check out blackwidow and help spread the word. I found out about them in a hot rod magazine and that is where Blackwidow mufflers are known more and less in the mid size truck world. They make an awesome muffler and are very easy to deal with when making an order. I ordered right from the website but they have custom shops around the country that sell their products.

I accidentally ordered the wrong size muffler and messaged them on FB and within about 3 hrs the order was adjusted and shipping out.

(Disclaimer I do not work for black widow. I just found a new product that I really like that is different than the normal stuff everyone buys.)

With the old exhaust I noticed that after 3k rpm you would loose the sound of the muffler because the intake sound would take over. After having the new exhaust for about a month now the biggest thing that I noticed is a pretty consistant power band and also engine sound. There is no drop of one sound for another. As the RPMs get higher the whole engine system sounds strong and happy.

I like the sound of Borla mufflers. They produce a nice rumble.
