I’m in the same boat. Dakar’s+ AAL Work well but not quite good enough for fatty.

Oh yeah...some place near Fallon NV. Not great for camping but a good spot to crash late.

 

good idea, I did shut off my engine right after the water crossing and checked my air filter. next time ill leave it running

 

I always think of the alternator going due to deep water but not the starter.

When I lived in Arkansas I did a a lot of deep water crossings. A lot of guys out there get sealed watercooled alternators because you can’t really wheel with out deep water over that way.

I’m so glad I’m back in CA.

Maybe this is why I've never had issuses. I always leave my truck running on the trail, especially durring wet weather, and hot weather, so in cali thats all the time.

 

One thing the Arkansas dudes told me was to keep your rpms low if you can. If you hydro lock the engine it will just stall rather than eat itself. You’ll still have problems but not as bad.

 

My brother threw a rod through the pan at idle in a puddle not sure if it matters lol
