I see that there are often problems with climate controls, but has your bulb holder ever fallen out and traveled into places that you can’t get to easily? I am wondering if mine is the cause of my climate thermostat producing a clicking sound as I turn up
the heat? At the half way point of the heat side it starts clicking & it’s not coming from the fan behind the glove box, it’s coming from behind the climate control section. I took off the easy stuff...cup holder, glove box, cabin filter, and climate controls but I see nothing and can’t feel anything vibrating as the clicking continues. The heat works fine & the a/c works fine.
I have an ‘ 07 Prerunner btw, 160k miles. Thank you!

Well the fan seems fine with a/c & heat. It can be cranked up on a/c and no clicking sound. It only seems to involve the thermostat on the climate control. You can’t turn the heat to the hottest setting without the clicking sound. Is there anything that the climate bulb could be affecting by rolling down behind the dash where the heat control is?
( I think I changed that bulb before this noise ever started & I may not have screwed it in tight enough and it fell out.)
Me whacking it to see if it will come on probably didn’t help once it fell out.

Are you sure the clicking sound is coming from the speakers?. Maybe your front door speakers?

Not a chance. It’s coming from the middle section for sure.

The clicking sound is a little plastic door motor that is struggling to move the flap. They are tiny plastic gears and they break, they're kinda Mickey mouse. It will likely already be broken if it's making noise so it needs to be replaced

You need access the blend door or at least it's hinges to swing it back and forth and see if it is stuck or broken. Be careful, if the blend door doesn't have it's full range of movement, the new motor will break immediately

It is the one called "Air Mix Control Servo Motor".

Have someone operate the heat control while you are in the passenger floor listening to the servo.

OP says " ...... You can’t turn the heat to the hottest setting without the clicking sound...."

Does this happen on low speed fan ???
