Hey guys, thanks for all the replies.

So I am going to be doing Option 4, the 5100's all around with the OME 887 coils. My question is, i don't currently need any additional lift in the back do i? Going Option 4 with labor has maxed out my budget and i don't have the funds to add anything in the rear(AAL, leaf, etc) right now. This shouldn't be an issue, correct?

It SHOULD sit level or close to level but every truck is different and you have the 3" lift coils so it might sit a bit higher up front. Don't forget UCA's up front if you haven't ordered them already.

If you tow or haul anything though, it will likely sag some. The stock Toyota leafs are shit. As soon as you can, order some Dakars or custom leaf packs from Deaver or Alcan.

I was reading that the 887's were 2-2.5" coils and that i wouldn't need UCA's, guessing thats not the case? Adding the UCA's will put me over what im budgeted for so maybe its better go with 885s?

Oh right you are 3rd gen my bad.

Regardless of the year/gen, any lift closely approaching 2.5" of lift or more, it is HIGHLY recommended that you should also install UCAs or you will constantly be in the shop needing an alignment and you will be wandering on the highway. Scary shit.

My .02, do it once do it right. Buy once cry once. The UCAs will be worth it in the end

i completely understand, makes more sense now. With that being said, if i went with the 885's instead(1.75" lift) would i still have to worry about it? This truck may never see any real off road besides some trails during hunting season and its a daily highway driver. I just want some minor additional height to make my 265/70r17 Falken Wildpeak's look nicer.

That should be fine. Again, every truck is different. 885's might be better anyways since you do not have funds to lift the rear (yet). Would probably be dead level or close to it.

Spend the extra coin on UCA!!

I went with 1.5" lift on my 6112/5160 with 3leaf AAL with overload left out with stock UCA.
Alignment sheet from the above setup.
    IMG_8527.jpg

4K miles later my alignment is shit....just because they can get your alignment into spec doesn't mean it'll stay like that for long. If you abolsutley can't spend money on UCA you need a Firestone lifetime alignment. And get it aligned every month or 2. Otherwise your tire tread and MPG will suffer a lot...trust me. I tried to save some money and failed.

    Aligned with 3 of caster
    IMG_0332.jpg

I made quite a few mistakes along the road of lift....I added a steel bumper and changed the way it drives comfort wise, dropped my lift up front and my mpg dropped. So I added JBA UCA and 650lb eibach spring. What I should have done in the first place but like I said I was trying to save some money...like people have said buy once, cry once.

How she sits today on a 2" lift

This is the best option you listed. Get ome coils that provide the amount of lift you want, set the 5100s on the lowest setting and let the springs provide the lift. This will give you the best ride quality since you wont be preloading the shocks to lift it

    Oh I forgot to vote.

5100s and 887 set (if you get a steel bumper go with a higher spring rate) at 0 clip. You will need an AAL single of 3leaf to level the truck

If you want performance of a coilover but not pay The bill of one...I choose 6112/5160, but I'm biased lol

Honestly just go off road with some locals ask and see there lifts in action.one lift set up for one person may not work fir the next person. Get to know the truck first. Who kniws you may be extremely happy with out lifting the truck at all.

As it sits right now, the truck feels and looks (to me atleast) extremely low. I went from a Grand Cherokee to the Tacoma and i feel lower to the ground now. I also will be upgrading to 265/70r17 Falken Wildpeaks and although they will fit stock i don't necessarily like the look of them without any type of lift on it. So i figured i'd atleast go for a 2" or so lift to improve my ride height and also look of the truck.

That's cuz it is low, I said the same thing so I researched on this forum for like 5-6 months until I found a option that suits my needs.

100% stock and today's setup. For me 2"ish lift is just right for the Tacoma. Plus 1" for a 33" tire 255/85r16

Love your truck man! I am definitely thinking the 2" lift is the way to go as well and will look the best. Anything bigger i think the 265/70's would look too small and not fill up the wheel well enough.

need to learn more about this stuff
I did 887 got 2.25 lift in the front. Didn’t change UCAs. Rides fine. We’ll see if that’s the case after 1000’s of miles. So I can’t speak there. But I don’t do any off roading and the guy that installed said I don’t need new UCAs.

If you do 887s and nothing to the rear you will probably sit nose high. I did the 3 leaf aal in the rear. Added an inch and a bit in the back.

My theory is why do the UCAs if I don’t need them. And if after a couple thousand miles if my allignment is wack I’ll get it aligned and see again. I’m keeping stock tires for now cause I have a hard time switching when they are so new still. So I don’t care if they get worn funky. As many guys say they had to get UCAs with the 887s there are guys saying they didn’t. And there are even more that did get UCAs because this site will make you think you need to do everything. I didn’t change out my ecg bushing either. But everyone swears you need to.

It’s like spacers. Everyone loathes them on this site and thinks they are pure junk and anyone who does them is horrible. TONS of guys run them. I have a buddy who’s run them on his 06 tundra for over 250k miles and he hasn’t had any issues.

Definatley don't need UCA, it's just recommended.

I also did the ECGS bushing, not needed but reccomended. It was only 150 to get done vs having to ever having to deal with the problem down the road if it ever did happen.
